Wiz should’ve just blew it all up fr. Trading Wall and Beal together could’ve gotten them started on a rebuild.
There’s a large contingent, perhaps even a majority, that would’ve rather Beal been traded and Wall stay. Truth is, for all the jokes about Rosebar and gang signs Wall is much more beloved in the area than Beal.
So Beal not being as successful won’t be tolerated in the same way by a lot of the fans.

Wizards made the wrong decision and they're gonna pay for it for 5 years.....you can't win with a small guard who's not a superstar making 40% of ur cap.....Raptors will be coming to that same bridge this summer....

With his contract we probably stuck for the duration of it. Or until he gets tired and demands a trade most likely to Boston for Jaylen Brown. And then I'll be happy.
Facts, Beal to me wasn’t that much better that you should choose him and hedge your bets on him. I actually would’ve kept Wall between the two if I had to choose. Get a bigger return from trading Beal while being able to resign Wall to a more cap friendly deal.
Best case scenario, the right team is built around him to try one last run and worse case it doesn’t work out like it isn’t working out right now.

Actually the Wizards made the right call trading Wall. His decline has been steep, he’s now a net negative on the court.
The problem was they didn’t go about it the right way. Russell Westbrook being the one to tip him off on the trade is terrible. Tommy lying out his ass was so slimy.
Also, drafting Deni instead of Haliburton when you were in trade talks with Houston for an older PG in Russ was inexcusable. Especially when people in that building on F Street were telling people like David Aldridge that they were leaning Haliburton.
Difference is the Raptors know how to draft and find guys to develop.

I'm of the belief that you don't sign a veteran supermax unless you already have tons of other assets like draft picks or young players or they are a for sure superstar. Once you sign that supermax it's hard to build after that as you're likely not going to be bad enough to get a really high draft pick and not enough free cap to sign another star through free agency. Wizards didn't have much around him and should've tried to get a big haul the likes of Mitchell, Gobert, or PG.
Not drafting Halliburton was huge. You might be right in that not drafting him was major domino to get to where things are now. As a cheap vet, Wall could’ve still contributed behind Halliburton for a much friendlier deal than what Brad is gettin.
Of course Wall wouldn’t have been a cornerstone player anymore but I think he would’ve been a solid contributor. While bolstering the roster with a Beal trade. But with no Halliburton it probably wouldn’t have mattered.
