Thanks!! I knew I heard or read that somewhere a while back.
John D. Rockefeller Sr. was a Republican through in through but he and his wife donated to many Black causes and charities.
HBCU Spelman is named after her maidan name. Her family were abolitionists during the 19th century..

now that you mention that I did hear that Spelman was named after a white woman a few years back and I was in disbelief. I been on that campus a few times and I never thought that was the case. Lol very interesting

Most people on this board are conservative. Most black people period are conservative. Crack that dictionary open. Being conservative doesn’t mean Republican.
Do you have empirical evidence for this claim? The only study I could find found that between a quarter and one third of African Americans identify as conservative. That is far from the majority.

Conservative to us is religious. I don’t need a survey. Talk to anyone black over 25.

Lol. Yes you do need surveys, anything else is nothing but anecdotal evidence.

Religiosity does not equate to political conservativism.

Also, religiosity for Black people means something completely different than it does for whites.

White people are turning religion into a nationalist ideology that's tied to white supremacy and views anything that is diverse as anti-white and anti-American. That's been documented.

Black people are religious, but it's not tied to their ideas about who is an American and who should vote and how. Political conservatives advocate for small government which translates into less enforcement of civil rights. They do not believe in broad civil rights unless it's covered by the Constitution. Political conservatives believe in a strict interpretation of the Constitution and they advocate states' rights, which always translates into majority rules. Whites are the racial majority so the political conservative agenda pushes states' rights to represent whites' preferences and needs.

Yes…… you negros that conflate your politics with being pro black are ACTUALLY mentally ill. You have no solution, and you’re lost.

Most of y’all are just obsessed with fighting the other side and explaining away behavior that you can’t defend, and deflecting when the actual conversation happens…

Kind of similar to when Candace Owens and Killer Mike were on that Revolt stage.

Difference between black conservatives and black liberals is that a a black conservative has probably been on the other side of the fence and basically felt it’s not working.

A black conservative is more open minded than a black liberal simply for the fact that they have actually switched their beliefs after a long thoughtful process.

Liberal mindset has no solution for black American problems. Id argue that you can’t be liberal and pro black

I look at it as the opposite. Growing up around black church people I learned that all gay people had AIDs, drug dealers were animals, Mexicans are dirty, and don't act up in front of white folks and be respectful to them, as they are usually in a position of power. It's when I got to college when I opened my mind and tolerance of others. Being around diverse people I learned about their cultures and what we have in common. I go back to my hometown now and some people still have those childhood beliefs.

I think the better question is can you be well educated and be a honest conservative (not conservative for cash like a lot of YouTubers).

Pro black means you recognize anti-black racist structural discrimination for what it is, realize that other groups are also affected by ethnicity or gender based structural discrimination and that in order to fight structural discrimination, you need these other groups as allies. Calling yourself pro-black without putting the actual work in of getting yourself educated in how to maneouver in politics, how to build alliances and actually understanding how the system of white supremacist patriarchy works is just posturing. Especially if you then fall for rightwing culture war bullshyt and start making ethno-nationalist demands calling for "legislation just for us". That's about the dumbest shyt I've ever heard because that is not how civil-rights work:yeshrug:

I’m already in a coalition it’s called the Democratic Party, your point of view is simply colored by your own personal politics just as mine are. Black conservatism has always had an ethnic-nationalist bent and I have no problem with that, I don’t believe in Allies or all this other theory. All groups act in their own self interest, I only ask that we start acting the same.
