Socially, where do you think our parents and grandparents beliefs would lie? Definitely not on the liberal side of things.

Explain what you mean by 'conservative'..because I had no idea conservatism was the sole preserve of racist cacs and all non whites are somehow naturally liberal by nature. :comeon:

black conservatives like candace aint around in the community doing anything

but i think the nuance of actual black conservatism is different from white conservatives, but when black conservatives just repeat what the whites say it convuludes shyt. my examples would be us going back to mutual aid, living in STRUCTURED households, and insitutions that promote growth. but candice thinks investments for blacks = handout, loans with favorable rates = handout, even though other communities here are built off of that. in other communities thats capitalism and growth. some of these dudes are on the "blacks need to have it hard to be meritable" train that they actually dont know how business works. inadvertedly, that promotes a struggle/ghetto mentality.

Nope. Whether they realize it or not. Whether they admit it or not. Conservatism mostly benefits the top social classes.

As a member of an oppressed class what exactly are you trying to "conserve"

Being socially conservative in America is to carry water for White supremacists and their bullshyt practices and institutions. Doesn't matter how much you love Black people or whatever non-White race.

I'm not saying you have to be a bleeding heart liberal, but oppressed classes need laws that put limits on those that would see harm come to them in the form of poverty, unfair treatment by the legal system, institutionalized prejudices etc.

Bleeding heart liberal is a slur that was invented by conservatives to deligitimize the fight for the things you just listed.

Most black ppl are conservative just by religious standards.

But we don't vote that way bc the white conservatives are traditionally racist.

Donald Trump only solidified that belief

Pro black means you recognize anti-black racist structural discrimination for what it is, realize that other groups are also affected by ethnicity or gender based structural discrimination and that in order to fight structural discrimination, you need these other groups as allies. Calling yourself pro-black without putting the actual work in of getting yourself educated in how to maneouver in politics, how to build alliances and actually understanding how the system of white supremacist patriarchy works is just posturing. Especially if you then fall for rightwing culture war bullshyt and start making ethno-nationalist demands calling for "legislation just for us". That's about the dumbest shyt I've ever heard because that is not how civil-rights work:yeshrug:

Definitely. I think most black Americans used to align more with republican values and beliefs

Black Americans were heavy into the Republican party prior to the KKK, Segregationists/WS Dixiecrats taking over.

Many know this but nothing wrong with posting a reminder for thread purposes.

"The Republican Party, also referred to as the GOP ("Grand Old Party"), is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States. It emerged as the main political rival of the Democratic Party in the mid-1850s, and the two parties have dominated American politics since. The GOP was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery activists who opposed the Kansas–Nebraska Act, which allowed for the potential expansion of chattel slavery into the western territories.[15] The Republican Party today comprises diverse ideologies and factions,[16][17][18][19] but conservatism is the party's majority ideology.[4]"
