WRONG WRONG WRONG......

It is about who knows the latest stuff....

if you have a bachelors and cant program a new language or do the latest engineering its worthless.

I have been in this field for a while to know that

Good luck getting into my company with an Associates

Even tho programmers get paid, its not worth the headache, trying to debug your program. Also, your going to need to know more than one language to make yourself marketable.

fukk Java and C++

this is precisely why I cant fukk with the shyt. Plus those if and while loops be :why:

The compiler tells you exactly whats wrong unless you nikkas cant read I dont see what the problem is

I know what you mean but its still not something I like to do. My roomate is a computer engineer and he has it rough.

this is true. unless you have a shyt load of errors or syntax errors. I guess I always hated programming.

but who wants to spend their weekends programing?

Companies need people who can get the job done effectively.

It s all about knowing the market....why would a company hire a bachelors degree with no programming skills when they can hire someone with an Associates to hit the ground running?

Look into computer networking...

CCNA to be exact...from there move on to CCNP then CCIE like me!

less programming but with an Associate you can break in

my advice to you is that u pick up a few programming books. read them to determine which ones are the easiest for you to understand. then make sure you master them.

i guarantee that u could be making ridiculous money before u graduate.

pick up books on java, perl, bash, awk, php.

pick at least two from the aforementioned languages. master them. u will be thanking me when you get your first job.

try not to depend solely on the crap they teach u in school. schools hardly ever teach REAL LIFE scenarios. use ur imagination.

you can get a lot of useful info in the higher learning IT thread.

but anyway, yeah programming is boring as fukk. ive been playing with java a lot lately and the deeper i get the more frustrating it is. i cant imagine having to sit in front of a computer all day writing codes...a couple of programmers i spoke to say they wear sunglasses when working to protect their vision too. it's good money tho.

programming, while stressful, is really a beautiful thing. it brings me an avalanche of satisfaction when i complete a program that saves me hours of work. yall dont understand.

finishing ur work in 2.5 hours and having the remaining 6 hours to do nothing. thats a wonderful feeling.

i dont know much about c++ but if its like other languages i've used, then u goto understand one thing:

when a program fails and tells you there's an error on line number 1000. that doesnt' mean the error actually exists on line number 1000. it only means it was at that point in the code that the program realized something is amiss.

so its now up to the programmer to sift through his code to determine where the fucck the problem is.

to avoid the hassle, i just usually add line markers to several chunks of my code.

fukk programming for a living. i've taken a good 4-5 programming classes now and this is the most frustrating shyt on earth. cuz u can have all ur code right in theory, but one typo can fukk the whole shyt up. and spending hours to find something like that will make u crazy sometimes

Like get a real good job, i dont wanna go to a university and be 40 thou in debt.

Preferably being on a game development team.

If you are looking to get into game development you don't need college. What you need is a good portfolio of projects. If you are highly motivated you can teach yourself programming and any of the other skills needed for game dev, but if you need structure you should go to college. Just make sure you have work to show that is not related to class. You could also go the indie route and bring your own ideas to life.

cant do shyt if they wont even let you in the door

We hire developers, breh...the last thing we look at is education. There are a lot of developer gigs that don't require a degree. I would always recommend getting a degree...but in IT, in many fields, it's not as important as other fields.

If you can teach yourself programming, you're set. You just really have to love it. I did it in school and got really frustrated. Either you have it or you don't, IMO.

Bruh I am a developer...been one since 2007...and yes companies do hire folks without degrees. But guess what...the ones that matter...and the ones that are willing to pay...they check for education...I got a 50% increase in salary from a govt contractor.....and they wont even send you a offer letter till they verify your degree.....and this is big boy development...with UPWARD mobility...my leads are former CS professors and mathematic professors

I used to work with guys that were self taught with no degrees....yeah they working....but they not advancing
