Software engineering and software development are pretty much the same. They are just labels/titles.
One of my job titles was "computer scientist". But, I did the same thing as a computer programmer, a software developer, and a software engineer.

.I was hired as a "systems analyst"...yet I write stored procedures in SQL and develop Java all day....they just hired as that title because they had to hire that "title"

Yahoo Answers. Meh, they will "sometimes" have good answers depending on the topic and question and who is answering the questions, and sometimes they'll have clowns.

if you do not have the skills of being addicted to something...

you can make it in this industry.

If you are a programmer you have to sleep, drink and eat programming!

Hmmm, a question for the developers here. What can I do in the mean time while pursuing the master's? Aside from getting acquainted the career center on campus, networking and actually writing apps for practice, is there anything else I should be doing? Especially since I won't be taking any master's classes until (hopefully, I can take some of the prerequisites this fall) and it'll probably be at least two years before I actually finish all of the classes.

cant do shyt if they wont even let you in the door

You'll have to start at smaller companies....maybe even startups. Get some working experience under your belt then apply to the bigger companies. Trust, in programming and other areas of IT, your degree is secondary...working experience and knowledge (relevant programming languages) is more important. A company wants to make sure you can program and you can learn languages.

I'm not saying don't go for your degree. If you're a brother you should get that degree cuz it's one less thing they can use agaisnt not hiring you.

Fine arts? :wtf:

Either pick a legit program or don't even bother going to school. Don't waste all that money on a degree that will have you working at McDonalds.
