just like in the States where every state and city is different, same thing here in Canada. different economies, demographics, cultures and issues, etc.
and since we don't have the same history as the US with slavery (although there were slaves, a part of history they tried to make us forget), the psychology is not the same. most black people in canada are immigrants or second/third generation immigrants. Most of us still identify very much with our parent's culture before canadian culture.
one funny thing about Quebec. I notice how in the US there's the thing about speaking "proper"= speaking "white". Here in Quebec it's the total opposite. Most people here speak french but white french canadian have a very distinct accent or even dialect at this point. meanwhile, most black people here (haitian and africans) speak french as well but more standard french. same thing with arabs. Over here, if you speak the "messed up french" you're considered a sellout trying to assimilate while if you speak proper french you're staying true because that's how we grew up. And you do see black people trying their hardest to speak the messed up quebecer french and it sounds funny as fukk.
