there aint no game plan that woulda gave cotto this fight. quite simply because once he felt canelo's power he was took shook to sit on anything. same thing with lara. he felt canelo's power and was terrified the rest of the fight. no trainer woulda been able to change that. I give cotto much respect though because at least he showed more heart than lara's punk ass...even if it got him some more lumps. but canelo was just too much. canelo didn't just outbully cotto tonight, he OUTBOXED him. too fast, too strong. too good.:Canelol:
He won 4 rounds on my card and a lot of the rounds Canelo won were close rounds. Many people in this thread thought he won 5+ rds with what was clearly the wrong gameplan. I don't think it's a stretch to say he could have got a W using the style that Canelo still has problems with imo.
Canelo still resets when you give him a jab or a 1-2 with movement & he still follows guys.
not a classic but good...both men had their moments here an there both defensively and offensively .8/4 to me.. impressed cotto didnt get rocked or finished, got stunned here and there tho. Cotto had a nice jab during the fight had moments but Canelo outworked him with body punching and hard combos, effective aggression till his cardio started to go to shyt and cotto turned it up little too late.
I was glad to see him back, but man that fight was Not good at all, he had a opponent he could show out on the big stage but didnt ... no lie a couple of people fell asleep at our fight party
and I found his last seven fights entertaining other then the agbeko fight, but damn man not a good look.
......only gave cotto 1 round, 2 at the most. and truthfully, canelo pretty much never left first gear in this fight. he was out there doing the ali shuffle in round 3 like he knew cotto wasn't on his level. this was a very comfortable and clear win for canelo. just don't see cotto being able to change the outcome.
