I never thought he was as nice as advertised. And simply being lyrical doesn't mean nice to me. Voice, delivery, wittiness all come in to play. Crooked I is nice,Canibus was just lyrical.

Canibus was Cassidy before Cassidy… he basically is suffering from the Jadakiss effect, Legendary verses but subpar albums??

Battle rap bars are good but can u actually make a cohesive project.

I honestly wouldn’t have went for a Fugees sound on the first album.

Nikka should have had a few Wyclef Jeans.

At least Pun’s albums had a bunch of producers that fit him

Fat Joe was a good A&R with connects.

Who told him that he should have Wyclef Jean on EPing the album?

I don't think Cassidy and Canibus are similar in style.

Cassidy bars were as simple as it gets. Canibus meanwhile tried fitting bunch of lyrical miracle spiritual words into his bars.

Cassidy is who all those basic bar rappers tried to be like Lil Wayne, Juelz Santana, etc.

Honestly, the handful of songs I've heard, he either sounds really good or super cringy. I would like to get more into his good stuff, what's his best album?

Dead ass wasn’t trying to be funny with what I said. Believe it or not, not everyone needs to rush to make albums. Bis could have had a good career for years just doing features and releasing singles. He cooled down just as hot as he started. Modern day look at OT Genasis or Stove God, though the reasoning is different these guys are doing well respectively without dropping albums. Bis, suffered from almost a one hit wonder like syndrome but it was more like a feature wonder or albumless wonder. Album was decent but just not right direction. I remember being super let down by first single.

Cats trippin, Bis had the total package just suffered from bad management and inconsistent production.

while i agree, it has to acknowledged that Bis is a challenging artist to produce into commercial success

anybody got any concepts or rubrics that could have been followed in retrospect?

with his style it seems like him getting pushed into the underground was inevitable... even if his debut wasn't panned
