I thought he should leave too, but i can't knock it. He gonna have a leg up on the starting job cause JT n Miller still gonna be rehabbing during spring ball. He can clearly improve his draft stock, and this will be his 4th yr so im sure he close to getting that degreeJones.
he doing him, but I hate this move.
Jones is being both criticized, for taking a gamble on his financial future, and commended, for wanting to graduate before moving on to the NFL.
But while Jones is taking a gamble, it is not as big as it might appear and the upside is much bigger.
ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. projected Jones would be drafted in the second or third round. In last year's draft, guard Xavier Su'a-Filo was taken with the first pick of the second round and signed a contract with $4.0 million in guaranteed money. Quarterback Derek Carr was taken three picks later and received a contract with $3.3 million guaranteed.
However, things are much different once you fall to the third round. Tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz's contract was just worth $703,000 guaranteed for being the top pick of the third round.
And herein lies the problem for Jones. His draft projection is in no-man's land. He's risking a lot if he would have been taken early in the second round. But he is risking very little if he is not taken in the first two rounds. In fact, in the grand scheme of things, there is little difference between being taken in the third round versus the fourth or fifth round, something that could potentially happen if his stock falls between now and the 2016 draft.
On the other hand, as a quarterback that everybody agrees has all the physical tools NFL teams drool over, Jones has an excellent shot to boost his stock into the top-half of the first round next year.
Last year, guard Zack Martin got $9.0 million as the 16th pick of the first round, nearly three-times what Carr got near the top of the second round. Going further, the top three picks of the draft signed contracts with an average guaranteed value of $21.4 million.
So there is some risk for Jones, a lot of which can be compensated for with an insurance policy, but the upside is so much more and Jones just pushed all his chips to the middle of the table.
) He's definitely the starter next year, and JT can fully rehab and be ready to go after he leaves. Win win for everybody.JT has unequivocally stated several times since the championship game has ended that he is not going anywhere.I dont know about this. If he was going to get drafted before the 5th or 6th round he should have bounced. Barrett was getting Heisman hype this past season so i dont think he will just go away quietly. Braxton Miller was a major Heisman candidate before he was injured and im sure he thinks he has a say in the QB competition too. But Meyer probalby wont give it to him since he has only one year of eligibilty left since Barrett would probably feel some type of way and transfer. This is interesting and crazy. When some teams cant find one starting quarterback the Buckeyes have three very good ones.
stephan a. is dat u?JT has unequivocally stated several times since the championship game has ended that he is not going anywhere.

Maybe Cardale was told by Meyer that he was gonna be the starting QB next year.
If I'm advising Cardale and he wanted to come back (which he's doing), I'm getting him with a personal QB coach like George Whitfield in the offseason. I've seen Urban Meyer's Florida playbook and it ain't the best for QBs. It mostly oriented for the running game. He needs to refine his fundamentals so he can be a Heisman finalist in 2015 and a 1st Rounder in 2016.
As much as a risk it is for him, some guys it doesn't hurt like Andrew Luck. Luck couldve the number 1 pick a year before he was drafted. That spot went to Cam Newton.

He said he wasn't promise nothing from Urban. Thing is nobody fails to realize is that Braxton and JT will still be rehabbing during spring ball, so Cardale will get all the 1st team snaps. Furthermore Braxton 's shoulder was worse than people thought and its not even a sure thing if he will be able to effectively throw again or play QB. I think Cardale is confident he can beat JT out. He was ahead of JT up until the week Braxton got hurt. JT finally beat him out because he prepared harder. Stayed in the film room more than Cardale. Since Cardale took over he has changed his work ethic. I think people are kidding themselves if they don 't think Cardale will be starting week 1. Either way all 3 know the situation and all could choose to stay or leave. JT n Cardale both are staying and competing. Braxton so far is staying. As a fan, going into week 1 last season, qb was our main concern with Braxton hurt. This coming season whoever is starting will likely be a Heisman candidateMost balanced post I've seen in this love/hate fest going on in here. And I hope he was told he would start...
and he better start @smitty22 ...
I'm leaning on the side of him leaving... pretty much a bird in hand. It woulda been the less risky business decision.
So he rejected, for all intents and purposes, a sure 6 figures and...
Now he's pretty much like, "No Bob, I wanna see what's behind door number 2."
and again, he better start @smitty22 ...![]()
