We lost the corny "my name is ___ and I'm here to say ho hey word to ya muvah" shyt from the 80s and we got more lyrical shyt with smooth production but rappers taking on this luxurious godfather persona where they can afford anything. Like Rick Ross was straight up exposed as a former prison guard but he just kept it pushing. 50 cent is now more popular than the nikka he stole that name from.
Despite this, I think people still do crave authentic rap. This is why people still care about people like J Cole or chance the rapper who wanna spend more time rapping about personal experience than their real or fabricated achievements.
