The Arizona Cardinals have hired Bruce Arians as their new head coach, a team source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Arians, who spent this past season as the Indianapolis Colts' offensive coordinator, accepted a four-year deal with the Cardinals that includes a team option for a fifth year, according to the source.

Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell also was a candidate for the job but withdrew because Seattle gave him a new contract, a source told ESPN.

In hiring Arians, the Cardinals ended a coaching search that lasted nearly three weeks. Arians will replace Ken Whisenhunt, who was fired Dec. 31 after Arizona's disappointing 5-11 season.

The 60-year-old Arians spent 12 games as interim head coach in Indianapolis while coach Chuck Pagano was treated for leukemia. The Colts went 9-3 with Arians in charge.

Arians succeeded Whisenhunt as offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh and was there for five seasons before leaving for the Colts and new rookie quarterback Andrew Luck. Arians also was head coach at Temple for five years.

Now the only thing they really got left is Fitz.

I wish Seattle could get Horton. I always liked his creative use of blitz packages...
