Graduating undergrad with no debt thankfully and a solid gpa, but I'm trying to figure out what the best moves for me might be. Degree in econ and public policy. I'm considering gov work and eventually grad school for econ or public policy, but I'm not sure. Any advice?

How did you graduate with NO DEBT?

General Econ gets you jack shyt. Take the statistical skills you probably learned in your curriculum at some point and get into Big Data industry. Forget about Finance or Economics that field is under assault right now from automation and regulation.

I wouldn't hire a Finance major who was major into debt like that...Think about it for a second.

I would travel, go see South America or Europe or both...

Once you start your career it's much more difficult to spend meaningful amounts of time away.

Idk what's up with the advice to go out grad school off the bat that's contrary to everything I've ever been told or read.

Also grad schools I'd looked at in the past expected you to have several years of experience.

How do you work internationally brehs?

You got to get a specialized skill set needed worldwide. Build up your LinkedIN contacts. Learn a 2nd or 3rd language.

Get with a girl from the country you want to emigrate to.

Construction and Logistics is real big in S.E. Asia right now. IT is big in Europe. Australia they need Data scientists and shyt.

South America unfortunately you can't make a lot of money. It's dead down there even in Chile unless you the CEO of some company.

Western Europe they looking for old heads with lots of business management experience, consulting on making inter-departmental processes and procedures more efficient. You can be a Chief IT dude in Ukraine and make $125k with a lower cost of living too.

You got to read Business Insider, Forbes, etc. Get in the know so you can see the trends these CACs see and take advantage of. All the information is out there these days you just got to be determined to find it.

Really helpful man. I haven't looked much at consulting firms, but I have been constantly checking NYC Econ Dev Corporation's career opening page. I'm definitely going to look into those consulting firms. My experience is fair to good. Interned for a nonprofit, a strong private equity firm, a high level politician/ worked as a research assistant/tutor amongst other things like being a team captain.
You gotta network as well, not just drop resumes where it goes to keyword screen and HR barely looks at it for more than 10 seconds. Reach out to alums and try and schedule a call to learn more about what they do at their jobs. If you come across as hungry, willing to learn and humble, once a position opens up, they already know you and you're more likely to get an interview.

The ibankers do networking really well - check out networking guides from WallStreetOasis, Breaking Into Wall Street or Mergers & Inquisitions about how to reach out to alums or even do cold intros.

You missed my point.

I am asking how he pulled it off debtfree because these days getting into College is no problem, graduating and AVOIDING major DEBT is the challenge. People out here with great degrees but stuck with school loans.

So if he is getting tips on how to proceed successfully, he can as well share with the many on this site how he successfully pulled it off without debt.

It really begins with your aid package. If you get one that's okay or even reasonable then you can make some moves. Become a RA on campus and that can help cover a lot of the cost depending on your school. If you can do that plus get a couple of scholarships or potentially work over summers you can reduce the amount you owe significantly.

But the system is designed to fuk people over so graduating debt free is extremely rare unless parents are picking up the tab and paying full

I'm going to work first, but I see grad school in the cards. Most jobs it seems require it for career mobility. What field are you in?
