and record.......I dont get why (that album) was even done.

I agree. Prince probably would've never released his version, but WB saw an opportunity to make some money.
I've been bumping the Morris Day version since way back in the day. No diss to Prince, but that's definitely a Morris Day song, IMO.

than everybody around him,getting signed,having full
control of his music,making the sound of his city wrap
around his,being one of the first black artists to be played
on Mtv, signing everybody around him and all of this before
(Purple Rain)
it was only natural for everbody to do their own thing
because they were thinking.......if he could do all of this shyt
i could at least go solo and get filthy rich.

It was Prince's way of putting out and keeping his black sound, while he was pushing the Revolution into a pop and mainstream direction.
