‘Cause for alarm’: COVID-19 hospitalizations worsen for Black L.A. County residents

At this point l, I can’t feel bad for anyone. This isn’t cancer. They made a choice. All of the people who made that choice will pay sooner or later.

Black people in L.A. need to go ahead and get vaccinated. I understand their reluctance to get it, but at this point, it may be in their best interest to do so.

Where I lice, I can't speak on Black residents who are unvaccinated or vaccinated, but I can say that from what I have observed, that Black residents are more likely to continue to wear their makes than their non-Black counterparts.

I am fully vaccinated & I carry my laminated VAX card on me. I also have my OG VAX card in a nice VAX case.

With that being said, I wear my mask when I am out and about as well as when I am around people at work.

With the Delta variant being out, I wish people will become proactive by protecting themselves as well as preventing themselves from spreading anything to other people.

Black folk always get hit the hardest. Just due to living conditions we're typically in. Really got hit the hardest once the pandemic picked up in the states round last April.
I cant speak to how many vax centers they have in black neighborhoods in LA county but if they've been to Target, CVS, or Walgreens once in the past 3 months they could have gotten a shot.
At this point it's their own fault and I got 0 sympathy for em.
The time period for wait and see how folks react to the 'cine is long gone (I was a wait and seer) anybody not vaccinated by now is never gonna get it. So whatever happens to em is on them

They had a few centers in low income areas out here that have been shut down due to low demand, they even have some sort of lotto system paying 50K to get people to vaccinate to no avail

In the I.E., I see Black people en masse wearing their masks. Asians & Latinos wear them as well with white folks being the least likely to wear masks.

That's not the point of the vaccine. The point of the vaccine is to help suppress infection rates, along with wearing masks, social distancing, disinfecting your hands and all the other measures. The vaccine is only one tool of many to manage the pandemic and life will not return to normal if people do not understand that this shyt isn't over before it's over. For the delta variant, you need a vaccination rate of 80% to reach herd immunity, opening everything up before that goal is reached increases the chance of escape variants which would render the current vaccines useless. It's not about your individual convenience, it's about public health.

Life is as normal as you want to make it if you’re vaccinated. You are free to stay home and stay masked up. Who cares? I’m moving freely as the vaccine makes your risk microscopic. There’s real world data about the delta variant. Vax effectiveness is about the same as the rest of the scarients. IE the vaxx is incredibly effective. Sitting around worried some hypothetical mutation will escape the vaxx while remaining as deadly is a waste of time. It likely will not happen, as if it evades the vaccine enough it will render itself less deadly and virulent in the process. But do you. Stay home and in a mask. Again, who fukking cares?
