The protections on the Memphis pick were crazy. 1-5 and 15-30 for two years. Not seeing that pick until 2017 kind of puts that into perspective.

The OKC pick hurts because they could possibly get it this year if OKC can improve in the standings.

They are on the title track and vets aren't fond of rookies doing on the job training (I.e. major minutes), so I can see why they made the trade.

Dog the proof is in the pudding. The Cavs had like 4 lottery picks on the roster last year and still lost a thousand games. Every team in the league has multiple first rounders, and the only ones that win consistently are the ones that have superstars. Its a crap shoot and the Cavs already have 3 "stars"....

A proven role player >>> a 50% chance at a role player 2 or 3 years down the road

Not if you have to overpay for him. And especially if you're still going to be thin at that position.

Dog, the team that won the title last year had 1 lottery pick in their starting 5, the rest of the team was put together via late first rounders, 2nd rounders & trades.

The Cavs drafting poorly is an indictment of their GM at the time, not first rounders as a whole.

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
To put this in perspective.

The Mavs gave up one protected first and several second rounders for Tyson Chandler and Rondo

The Pelicans gave up one protected first rounder for Omer Asik

The Wizards gave up one protected first rounder for Marcin Gortat

Cavs overpaid due to the time of the year and the lack of any Centers on their roster.

The nuggets got a better package for mozgov than Boston did for rondo

:mjlol:

Although we will probably try like crazy to flip wright and jameer
