I fukk with KG heavy but 4-5 years and 1 title for a top 2 historical franchise worth getting your jersey in the rafters?
Good for him, I guess.
6 years and 1 title seems like a weak argument for a jersey number retirement.
In my view, I thought something like a retired number warranted like....a 15-20 year run with a franchise. Someone who was the face of your franchise for a long time.
But these days the bar for retirement seems to be getting lower. It's not a disrespect thing. I just think to retire a number forever requires a lot.
6 years and yes, its a no brainer.
Not sure if worthy...
They better invite the Bone Breakers
They have ONE title in the last 34 years and counting and KG was their best player for their championship run. He turned that whole franchise around.
5x allstar, DPOY, ALL-nba, all-defense etc.
Like 3 people got their jerseys retired just for being Bill Russell's teammate. KG is just fine
he helped them win their first ring since 1700s, deserves it imo
they wouldn't have that tile without him.
Celtics somehow retiring his jersey before the T’Wolves
KG changed the culture to what it is now.
Celtics gonna have no numbers available soon. nikkas will be rocking #61 and #86 20 years from now.
KG turned the team around completely on the defensive end and if he hadn't gotten hurt the second year they would have had a real shot at back to back titles. It is what it is.. he deserves it
Shaq in Miami
Jason Terry in Dallas
Iggy in GS
Pau in LA
Rasheed Wallace in Detroit
all unquestionably deserve to have their jerseys retired by those squads?
