One of the main issues with Chance post-Acid Rap that rarely gets talked about is how he went from floating on tracks like a prime Lil Wayne to mainly doing a monotone, spoken-word flow (which is straight ass btw). When he raps in that flow, he rarely switches up his cadence or tone and doesn’t even bother to ride the beat.
The biggest highlight of this album is that he keeps that flow to a minimum and shows a return to form to his Acid Rap-era style. What he really needs now is to invest in a top-tier engineer, because the mixing on this album isn’t good.
