I look at it this way...Nas took Takeover on the chin and bounced back with Ether. Ether hit Jigs' soul and he was a broken man. Matter of fact Jigs is still a broken man from that one song 12 years ago. To this day he's still an ugly, insecure old man trying to be down, while Nas has moved on and continued his reign.

Yeah the facts angle has always confused me. It's a rap battle not a debate or a legal proceeding. :heh: And neither song even tries to be overly factual so why even bring that into it. It's two nikkas snapping on each other at the highest level. The fan reaction and the reaction of the two rappers involved should tell you all you need to know. Jay went through all the classic I-lostisms. He tried to keep the battle going after Ether clearly ended it. He brought his mama into it :scusthov: And then he basically said "yeah I lost but....". It's been 13 years people. nikkas were between 10-25 back then meaning they should be grown as fukk now and able to acknowledge that Mr. Carter got got. Yes he has more money. Yes he's sold more albums. Yes he's married to Beyonce. Yes Kelis is a thot. None of that changes the result of the battle though. :manny:

Its not about the sales its about the quality.

And as far as the quality its kind of arguable :itsalright:

Illmatic was hot. I personally like IWW, but the general consensus at the time is that it was underwhelming after Illmatic.
And after that Nas didnt drop a anything in comparison until Stillmatic (which obviously came out after takeover)

"2 of them shyts was doo, one was ehhhh (IWW) the other was Illmatic".

Id say its pretty accurate:ehh:

:stopitslime: So you are gonna call Illmatic, the consensus GREATEST Hiphop album of all time something as simple as "hot" and just mitigate the rest of Nas's career off of that? Come on man, TALK about bias...

first of all, IWW is a classic by popular concensus as well, but coming off of the GOAT album, some saw it as a disappointment, but fukkin Reasonable Doubt after Illmatic would have been seen as a disappointment too, Illmatic was THAT good.

And I Am was a great album as well, certainly better than Vol 1, 2 and 3, the only assault Jay could make on Nas's catalogue was Nastradamus which I'd still put over the worst of Jay's catalogue as well.

Jay was in no place to critique Nas's catalogue because even back then it was superior to his own

i wasnt specifically talking about takeover i was talking about the battle in general. people diss super ugly but that shyt was more etherous to nas' soul than ether was to jay's. a rich nikka doesnt care if u call him ugly or a fakkit or a camel but any nikka, rich or poor, is gonna feel salty when another dude tells the world he fukked your baby moms and its true :pachaha:

'Superugly' was some feminine ass chickenhead, 'I fukked ya man boo' trash that was rightfully ignored and ridiculed. It almost served as a support to ether in that in aligned with Nas' assertion that Jay was a stan of his, and so desperate to be connected with his idol, that he was even resorting to dealing with the women of his past. Who cares if Jay smashed some chick that Nas stopped messing with??? He even dragged Nas' young daughter into it, and did it in a sexual and vulgar context (condoms on a baby seat...really?). Jay looked like a stalker nicca basket case.

As far as Char goes, I think when people say that 'Takeover' was full of facts, I think they really mean to say that Jay took a more noble approach by largely focusing on music and Nas' disappointing career up to that point (and he was right about that at the time 'cause Nas was falling off), while Ether's sole intent was to humiliate Jay in almost every way (and Nas succeeded). Both records are loaded with opinion and hearsay.

I'm sorry but once you start supporting yourself and none of these nikkas are looking to help you that shyt should cease. :pachaha:. I get teenagers in mom's basement or dorm rooms when it dropped acting like that and I get dudes like Bleak who owe so much to Jay acting like that but a grown ass man with no connection to this situation standing stronger than Jay himself is just :snoop:.

Exactly. Let the shyt go. You can still be a fan of the man and admit he took it on the chin. He's admitted it, Dame admitted it, Bleek admitted it, Sigel admitted it. Why keep holding on to the shyt?

Did you want Jay to say Illmatic was the greatest album of all time on a Nas diss record?
