ill admit i gotta freshen up. i dont even listen to rap anymore but the battle was at around the time when i was a huge fan so i have my opinions on this.

even still, they both said personal things, but what people consider the funniest parts of ether and the best lines are the jokes, which admittedly were very good. the parts of takeover and super ugly that people most remember were the cringe worthy disses based on how people felt about nas that nas took to heart cause he knew thats how he was seen.

i stand corrected i was going off by what bammer said. its been a long time since i listened. however his attacks were either true or based off people's perception of him. nas fell off drastically and jay attacking him is the only thing that made him relevant again to anybody outside of nas stans

It clearly wasn't his best album but that and that alone isn't indicative of a fall off. If he was no longer relevant then the battle isn't the big deal that it was and still is. Just him saying "Ask Nas he don't want it with Hov" before putting a verse down was huge. That doesn't happen with an irrelevant guy that has drastically fallen off.

Ignored? Are you implying that Nas started this or something? Dudes were throwing shots at each other for years. The winner is only debated by the most ardent of Jay fans. Even Jay doesn't .
