100% wrong. I'm from that area. 90% of the population is either black or Hispanic. A lot more Hispanic tho. I lived in Corona and it was 90% Dominican. I also lived in Jackson Heights and it was similar. East Elmhurst is where I live now and it was once home to a lot of Black leaders, athletes and countless entertainers. The crib where Malcolm X lived that got burned is a few blocks from me. Louis Armstrong, Jackie Robinson, Langston Hughes, Willy Mays, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald all lived here. I could go on for days. Eric B, Kid n Play, Eric Holder. MLK used to serve as a pastor out here. Definitely not Asian at all on this side

When I mentioned Asians I was referring more so to Elmhurst and Jackson Heights, rather than Corona and East Elmhurst. Elmhurst has a lot of Chinese people and Jackson Heights has a lot of South Asians.

A lot of black people in that area are homeowners. Middle-upper middle class. It’s a beautiful area honestly. Those families have more than likely been there for decades. I went to school in Corona and many of the black deans, teachers lived there. I’d run into them all the time. Malcolm X used to live in East Elmhurst for some time. One of those back streets is named after him. Corona also has great black history embedded in it (mostly due to the jazz legends that resided there). Most of the black people that still live there stay along Northern Blvd from 104th st and up and are peppered throughout. Mostly older people tho.

Yeah. Corona has been taken over recently by South Americans. And Jackson Heights is the most diverse neighborhood in the world but the area closest to Corona used to be all Dominican too.

East Elmhurst has definitely changed the last couple years. It has gotten much safer. The reason for the large black population here is that it was one of the first areas where Blacks were allowed to buy homes.

There’s almost a kinship between island Latinos and us. Even though most of them dudes is corny. Dominicans always got the sunglasses in the club. Etc.
