that just allows for more spacing and more 3s, especially considering range isnt really an issue for players these days. they ll have even more space to get open shots

Your post is ironic as fukk considering Barkley was famous for showing zero defensive effort and at the end of his prime was jacking up 4 threes a game as a PF even though he only hit 28%.


The best team Chuck ever played for (the '93 Suns) led the NBA in 3pt attempts, played at the EXACT same pace as the 2021 average, and was worse at defense than any playoff team today.

thats the point.. more space for midrange.

also longer versatile defenders will be more valuable because they would be able to guard more space.

obviously its not n overnight fix.. but i think its a start.

If they wanted more spacing they would just back up and have the same effect. The short corner 3 is considered the money shot because being a foot closer to the basket makes it more likely to go in. eliminating it by making the line longer in the corners would definitely cause teams to shoot fewer of them.

And if you created more spacing it would give players more opportunity to shoot those in-between shots that y'all want them to shoot. It doesn't make the 3pt any easier because they're still just as close to the next player outside the 3pt line.

Barkley's most famous move was using his ass to back his man down for half the shot clock....not exactly more watchable.


The league literally had to make a rule that you could only back your man down for 5 seconds before you had to do something else.

games are mostly coming down to who is hot from 3

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there has never been a point in NBA history where games weren't largely decided by which team is hitting more shots, regardless of what the distribution looks like.
