While it's hard to feel "sorry" for anyone making 5mil, I definitely believe Strong is being set up and is not a long term guy in Texas' eyes. A young black dude getting a high profile job that has been sullied by his predecessor, which comes with multiple problems that fans will expect to be fixed overnight...sounds a lot like a certain president we have, brehs. But unlike him, I don't think Strong will last long.

This will be a transition period. And in three years, maybe four, after some good but not great seasons, they'll fire his ass and once again take a shot at Saban, or Meyer, or Harbaugh, etc.

He's not young tho. he's 53. Same age as Bob Stoops is right now.

Mack Brown was in his early 40's when he got to Texas. Those two stats right there already tell you the unfairness of race in college coaching.

And three years from now, Saban will be like nearing mid 60's, he already starting to look haggard and worn out these days. Meyer will quit OSU soon enough, and Harbaugh isnt coming back to college....he's been in the Bay area for several years now.

I dont like the racism I'm already seeing behidn this move, and I don't give 2 sh*ts about Texas Longhorns. But even on the OU board I'm having to check these white posters making racist jokes.

I'm gonna be rooting for Charlie Strong & the Longhorns next year. Dude has extreme levels of pressure on him. I dnt think he will win many games in year 1. But by year 2, he's gonna have to to win and win at least a Big 12 title.

Side note: I wonder how people down there feel about his white wife? :mjpls:

first of all, this ain't Tuscaloosa. Texas has some of the most diverse cities in the country. Look it up. We are filled with people from your own cities and countries. The people we are talking about are old ass big money boosters still living in the past. No one will bat an eye about his wife. We have our share of so-called cacs, but who doesn't.

second, don't get it twisted. With a soft ass program with no offensive identity, and change of defensive philosophy 3 games into the season, with our starting QB out after 2 games, starting d-tackle, all 3 starting lbs out, and 2 secondary starters out most of the season, this team was still within 1 half of winning the big xii. The soph, junior and senior classes are filled with NFL talent. There are 5 young Nfl type lineman, hell 7. Brown and Grey in the backfield. Shipley, Johnson and Sanders at reciever. If Ash comes back, there's no excuse to not compete for the big xii. Non conference is another story. There will be some adjustment period and UCLA might be an ouch, but Texas will be the more talented team outside of Hundley.

Bobby Petrino's imminent hiring as Louisville's head coach means Cardinal fans got no business complaining about Strong leaving
