True but to be fair, I bet a lot of this hate is coming from those suburban Austin areas and those little towns outside Austin like dripping springs and shyt like that.
You have to love the suburbs. And nigggas say they want to move there.

I can't think of one I would move to honestly. If I moved to Austin, it will be the city. I don't like Round Rock, I don't like Pflugerville, I don't like Manor. I don't like Buda. I DEFINITELY don't like Georgetown.

:gag: Georgetown, my parents wanted to leave Canada for Georgetown, I had to persuade them not to. If they find a house it will be Austin proper. Same with Houston. Not safe for a niggga to be walkign around Conroe or the Woodlands after 10pm

The H
but he runs a SPREAD and his defenses have had success stopping the spread too.
As mentioned, he runs a pro style, and his defenses were up against lower tier from C-USA leftovers. Lets not act like he was bulldozing top tier spread offenses.

I like him a lot. But, when you have Gundy, Briles, and Kingsbury playing these offenses, and its what the conference has been pounding their chest about, I'm curious whats going to happen. When you break it down, Strong seems like a great hire at anywhere else but Texas, just given the circumstances. I hate UT, but I like Strong. Its going to be interesting and see what happens.

We know what defense he's going to run. We don't know the offense as of yet until he names an offensive coordinator. If Texas goes 10-2 or 9-3 in the first season, it is successful IMO.

They give him a chance to recruit good players and after he get them to a few bowl games they fired him and bring in someone else with charlie players and they win the championship and nobody will mention it was because of charlie recruiting

I wish the brother luck

That is what I thought about too. Willingham brought the players to Notre Dame and Weis ate off the recruitments he brought in going to a BCS bowl real quick :smh:

nah Bridgewater ran a pro style offense.

Should have been more clear, he runs a traditional offense with a lot of spread concepts. So you are right, at the core he is a prostyle guy but I believe some of the OC candidates suggest he will adjust to the climate down here. They grow QBs and WRs on trees down here....he shouldn't make the same error Mack did in trying to force that 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense on Texas.

As for stopping the spread, did you see what he did to the vaunted '08 OU offense?

While it's hard to feel "sorry" for anyone making 5mil, I definitely believe Strong is being set up and is not a long term guy in Texas' eyes. A young black dude getting a high profile job that has been sullied by his predecessor, which comes with multiple problems that fans will expect to be fixed overnight...sounds a lot like a certain president we have, brehs. But unlike him, I don't think Strong will last long.

This will be a transition period. And in three years, maybe four, after some good but not great seasons, they'll fire his ass and once again take a shot at Saban, or Meyer, or Harbaugh, etc.

sounds plausible. especially when you have to deal with this from the top booster on the day you are hired.

I hate bringing race into this, but we gonna act like this dude woulda said this shyt the DAY OF THE HIRE if the coach was white and coming off a solid bowl game win too? Nah. The fix is in.

And to make a contrary point against the race factor...this kinda reminds me of what happened at Michigan a few years ago. They couldn't get Les Miles, Harbaugh wasn't coming (and at that time was not the big name he is now)...so they went with Rich Rod. Automatically, "Michigan Men" caught feelings since he didn't have a connection to the program. He also brought a foreign offense and the blackest QB in franchise history with him. But while fans loved Denard Robinson, they never loved Rich Rod. And to be fair he also failed to do his job, but he only got three years. That's a short time.

I think that Strong will be on a similar leash. If he gets a couple 10 win seasons and beats the rivals in that time period, he'll be safe. But I guarantee you that the first big or "bad" loss Texas has, the knives will be out from boosters, fostering a negative atmosphere and questioning his knowledge of the game. MOST boosters don't know shyt about football. They're mesmerized when a coach explains their general thought process ("why did you go for two, coach; oh boy, did you create that fake pass play, etc") or starts talking Xs and Os, but overall they don't know shyt and are mainly interested in winning. That's why boosters ALWAYS chase names, even if a coach is overrated or not a good fit, they want the biggest name.
