Game evolved a lot after the 80s

You gotta keep it 💯. People making these lists likely didn't grow up on 80s rap, so chatgpt isn't gonna pull that data when it's doing its thing

Would you prefer people pretend to rank a token 80s rapper high when they don't even fukk with their music like that?

80's was the most positive decade out of every decade. Not so much cursing. Violent rap was at a minimum. Smoking weed and doing drugs was was looked down on. The conscious era started in the late 80's on a level we never saw again. So there's holes in that statement when you say "evolve" knowing damn well the evil started in the early 90's and stayed within the culture since. The culture itself was way more alive in the 80's then any other decade. 80's was the last decade that the DJ got to shine as the star. The rapper became the star solely once the 90's hit but the DJ started as the star when the culture began.

Run had Runs house. Flav had Flavor of Love. And NWA had a whole movie that was a phenomenon that spawned Straight Outta T Shirts. Ice T is on Law and Order, Will Smith is one of the biggest Hollywood stars.

While I do think it's important I can't let something like commercial success rule out someone being considered a great rapper.

If that's the case then ghostwriting should be considered as well, which we see AI completely ignores.

All three of those names I mentioned have had enough commercial success along with being iconic rappers to be considered great

To each his own.

Well don’t call it a “greatest of all time” list, call it a “my favorite rappers that I fukk with of all time” list or something. It’s not fair to forget about history just because you don’t listen to these people lol.

What that got to do with bars? :patrice:

Moral grandstanding in rap is moot considering regardless of what music was popular, 80s rappers were doing the same shyt as any other generation

Afrika bambatta didn't kill a single person on a song, but he was a whole predator that NY nikkas protected for decades :francis:

I said why didn’t they put LL in there and it said that Nas, Jay, Wayne Kendrick etc built on his foundation with deeper lyricism and more layered albums. ChatGPT still puts him in the top 15 though.

:yeshrug:

Lil Wayne does not have 1 album fukking with the multi hit having, great production from front to back, Mama Said Knock You Out. ChatGPT doesn't know what it's talking about.

Wayne, Drake, Cole?
FOH
why not throw on 50 cent then with this bullshyt ass list

Wayne and Drake I get. Wayne has been in the game since he was 12 and is still pretty relevant today. Drake I know is controversial he still was a cultural juggernaut in the 2010s and defined the sound of 2010s by merging melody and emotion with sharp bars. You can’t deny his influence on modern rap/pop.

Only ten spots and time keeps ticking

People can select whoever they want for their own list. I don't get the issue. Nobody is forgetting history because they don't include xyz rapper on their list

It didn't contain any rappers below the age of 30 either. How you gone have a greatest rappers of all time without youngboy? Or anyone else to represent gen z. Or is it okay cause yall don't listen to those people?

A great album and one of my faves from LL but this is subjective. There would be people that would say the Carter 2 is comparable.

That’s why I say make a rappers you fukk with the most list. I don’t know how old you are and if NBA Youngboy is your guy that’s cool. Putting him on an all time list in 2025 ain’t the move tho. I mean the guys on the AI list all have multiple years of experience now. You can slip at least one 80’s rapper in there. Kendrick, Cole, and Drake are the old guys now and people still argue if all of them are even in the top ten lol. shyts hilarious to me,
