A great album and one of my faves from LL but this is subjective. There would be people that would say the Carter 2 is comparable.

Hell no. The closest to a Mama Said Know You Out was Blueprint by Jay Z. Both veteran rappers who already set their names in stone who came out with an undeniable classic from front to back with top notch production in the next decade that proceeded the decade that they reached their prime. Carter 2 didn't smash like MSKYO or Blueprint. Both those albums shut the game down. 2005 had bigger albums that had Carter 2 in the mix but not as the dominant factor.

And that's why your rep is at -464. No more needs to be said. :ehh:
Objectively none of them crack the top 10. And at that time, rappers weren't making great albums from a pure quality angle. A bunch of them even admitted it few years ago.

Some of the most monumental classic albums came out of the 80's. You don't know what you are talking about, you weren't there and it shows. You aren't qualified to be in this conversation. Beat it.

That’s why I say make a rapper you fukk with the most list. I don’t know how old you are and if NBA Youngboy is your guy that’s cool. Putting him on an all time list in 2025 ain’t the move tho. I mean the guys on the AI list all have multiple years of experience now. You can slip at least one 80’s rapper in there. Kendrick, Cole, and Drake are the old guys now and people still argue if all of them are even in the top ten lol. shyts hilarious to me,
I'm not a YB fan, but his music aight from what I've heard. My point is that when it comes to moving the cultural needle, guys like YB or carti got rn

To minimize that as nothing can only be because of personal bias. Cause it ain't about lyrical skill, no matter how many times people front like it is

Especially when nobody is even analyzing bars ITT. nikkas should cite really. Don't just say xyz 80s rappers deserves to be all time great. Prove it

And I'm not saying I would disagree with them being placed that high either. I fukk with all them 80s rappers. Some I listen to more than others, but that's with any era. I fukk with all eras cause I love this rap shyt :manny:

All I'm saying is, the same people speaking up for the 80s should be speaking up for the 2020's :manny:

Cause why be dismissive of what came after just cause they chose to differentiate themselves from what came before? If the original goal of Hip hop was to allow the youth to speak for themselves, who is Hip hop for in 2025 when we don't wanna engage with the youth of today?

Like it or not, gen z rap is creating moments that they'll remember within their canon of classics and legends. You can't decide that for them no more than they can erase history.

At the end of the day, it's only fair to represent somebody from all eras if it's truly "the greatest rappers of all time"

The Carter 3 sold way more records and was more impactful then Mama said knock you out.

Only nikkaz worth speaking on in the 80’s is Chuck D, Ice Cube, LL Cool J and Rakim. I would say KRS One and Big Daddy Kane but they topped off off at the early half of the 90s.

The term "around the way girl" is a term still used today so obviously you are wrong when talking about being "more impactful."

And I don't know why you are comparing different eras when talking about hip hop album sales. No real Hip Hop head would even do that. R&B was the dominant Black genre when LL dropped his album while Hip Hop was the dominant Black genre when Carter 3 dropped.

Who the fukk is using the term around the way girl today unless you are an old nikka. I’m about to be 40 next year btw so I’m in that old nikka territory and I ain’t never heared people say that term. I’ve heared bad bytch and redbone a lot more.

:mjlol:

See this is what I’m talking about. You ain’t outside and your qualifications is outdated sir.

The fact that you just totally left out Slick Rick and his first album confirms you don't know what you are talking about. Stillmatic is a Slick Rick first album reshoot. Montel Jordon's This Is How We Do It is because of Slick Ricks first album. The impact Slick Ricks first album has is so monumental, thatonly someone who doesn't know what the fukk they are talking about would not acknowledge it as being one of the most monumental hip hop albums of the 80's.

And there are countless others but I'm not going to waste my breath because you aren't worth it. You're just going to keep replying with bullshyt.

Oh and um...That thing you said about who is using the term "around the way girl" :sas1:

Northern(nyc) “around the way girl” archetype is a big one that’s missing

That’s me right there all the way

She has an around the way cute white girl face…. what do you really want to accomplish with this thread?

She got that “around the way girl” appeal

She thick as fukk; big boobs, thick thighs and a fat ass

These few comments are from not too long ago right here on this very website which confirms what I said about it being a term still used. This confirms you aren't to be taken serious any further.

Everything you have been replying to confirms you weren't even around in the 80's. You keep saying the opposite of what actually happened. So with that said I'm done with this back and forth but you can have the final word. I'm done :ehh:

Go dust off some vinyls Unc and let that wax simmer to your Africa Bambatta collection.
