I know, I just think his leadership was overrated. That team was talented and had a good seed. Most of melo's exits were against title contendersthey played in denver together too breh thats what he is referencing

What would a guy that played with dude and won a championship in this league know about any of this? What's his dap/post ratio or rep looking like though? 
It's not ether because it's apparent to anyone is paying attention and doesn't have an agenda
. Melo is a perfect example of max talent/ability vs. being an actual max player. Max players are guys that have the superlative talent AND they can adjust to fit with other talent players and lead the way and get the most out of their teams even if they aren't that good.

Chauncey led the nuggets to its best run with melo and won a championship without him
Chquncey has been to the finals twice and the conference finals like 7 tines on the east and west
Jason kidd also led melo to his best run as a knick and won a ring on another team and been to the finals three times
only time Melo went to the WCF is when Billups was there..He is absolutely right.. When Billups was traded to the Nuggets, the team experienced something they hadn't done before.
Records don't lie..Billups was a great pick up and definitely helped Melo get out of the first round.

It's true Melo had his best years with Billups and Kidd. Dudes that move the ball around and know what to say to these young players.

It was basically the same team that got swept in the first round as an 8th seed the year before only with Billups in AI's place. He played those title contenders in the first round most of the time and if you look at the talent he's had there is something rather questionable about them regularly facing top seeds in the first round. Then you look at how Denver basically went on with business as usual after he left.

I simply don't see it. The same could apply to most athletes. Bron, Bird and company all needed other leaders with them in order to win rings. I don't get the point

Billups has more rings than Ewing, I'd trust his opinion on winning.

Where was Billups' “leadership” in the '09 WCF when 'Melo got sick in and needed Billups to help, and Billups responded by shooting 39.7% from the field, leading them to lose in 6 games that was really 5 games because the league cheated the Lake Show in game 5 to extend the series for money? Billups “leadership” had nothing to do with that run. 'Melo has been taking terrible teams to the playoffs every year of his entire career until Dolan decided to tank last season and this season. Where was Billups' “leadership” the following year when they lost in the 1st round, in 6 games, with Billups shooting less than 45%, and a putrid 2.3rpg?Where was Kidd's “leadership” when he could no longer make a shot? What about when Sheed went down? What about when J.R.'s shot fell off a cliff from injury? What about when Felton went down? What about when 'Melo's shoulder went out? Kidd's leadership had nothing to do with that record. 'Melo being 'Melo, Kidd's 3pointers and J.R.'s buckets got them that record. When those 2 things left, the team went with them. Billups is still salty about being amnestied. He was on the radio one time talkin' 'bout “If they hadn't amnestied me, I think we really could've won a championship”.
