These mfs sound so sheltered and out of touch:snoop:

Drug addicts living out of the local cheap motels have been a thing SINCE THE EIGHTIES, and likely sooner than that but I can only speak from my life’s timeline.

I remember we lived in Brooklyn Arms Hotel in Brooklyn in the EARLY EIGHTIES, a cheap ghetto hotel known for its homelessness, drugs, and violence. We lived in there with many, many other families, both Black and Puerto Rican. It was rough.

And that was in the 80s.
I don’t know shyt about the 80s or Brooklyn

Get off on Old National, and you got about 2 or 3 of them that folks live out of. You can rent a room for about 175 a week. When I did lyft, I can remember taking folks from the hotels to one of the laundromats off of Riverdale rd.
175 a week is 700 u can get an apartment for that much tho :mindblown: guess they got bad credit or something

I remember being in an extended stay hotel room buying a zip from my friend/connect, we were 19, who I went to middle school with, he was strung out on coke and oxycontin, living in the hotel. I was like I have to get the fukk out of here, this is grim lol

I spent enough time in trap spot motels and hotels as a kid, I won't walk in unless it's 4/5 stars now. I have stayed and seen some rough spots.

That’s got something to do with it.

My ole lady’s cousin stays in hotels like that from time to time. With the money she gets from the government for her kids, and she works, I know she can afford her a cheap apartment. Her credit is just terrible. She’s been evicted like 2 or 3 times from apartments.

She’s trying to get herself together, but she can’t run from her past :francis:

LIGHTS/GAS/WATER/CABLE/PHONE INCLUDED IN THAT 700. PLUS YOU GET A MAID AND ACCESS TO GYM EQUIPMENT. I KNEW SOME FOLKS WHO DID IT WHILE IN COLLEGE. IT WAS CHEAPER THAN AN APARTMENT AND THEY COULD LEAVE WHEN THEY WANTED. IT'S BASICALLY A DORM WITH YOUR OWN PERSONAL BATHROOM FOR 700.

And you don’t need to know anything about Brooklyn or the 80s in order to be in touch enough to have seen/heard of these types of places.

“Nowadays”

*chuckles

But you specifically mentioned the 80s cause you grew up in it and said you can't speak on anything before that.

So many that applies to people speaking on their "timeline" and not the 80s.

I learned this as I got older.

First thing I do when I'm going somewhere out of town is peep those reviews on Google, Yelp, Travel Advisor, etc and if they aren't looking right I keep looking until I somewhere with good ratings. Usually 4 or 5 stars.

My wife wanted to try out an Airbnb while we were in Alabama a few weeks ago and that shyt was in the middle of the hood. I pulled up and was like :merchant: we went ahead and went through with our stay it was an old run down house, but it was very nice on the inside, but it was in the middle of the hood.

Driving back there from the wedding the first night we were in town a crackhead literally walked right up to the window of the truck a few blocks up the road from our Airbnb. It kinda freaked my wife out I didn't sweat it though I'm use to crackheads. :yeshrug:

Safe to say she probably won't book us for another Airbnb again for a while if ever.
