Kendrick Perkins

The 12-year veteran has never logged DNPs (did not play) at this rate before, but he said if he could do it all over again, he wouldn't change a thing.

"I've never been in a position like this where I'm not really playing, but at the end of the day, I'm cool. I know I'll be all right. I'll get a chance to go somewhere and sign and be OK, but as for right now, I'm like 'man, I made the right decision.'

Looks like he won't be back next year.

:blessed:

Him laying out Jae Crowder alone justified the signing.

He's got a serious inflation in his self worth. I don't think there is a winning team that would sign him and actually make him apart of the rotation in the league. He better learn to accept the leadership/break glass in case of emergency situation. He could easily extend his career 5 plus years elsewhere in that role.

Let me get ya'll opinions on this...Just left the barber shop and had a looooooong discussion about it.

Is it better that the Cavs lose this series or win it.......long term?

If they win....

They may be more inclined to not get anything back of value for the Haywood contract if they win out. They may just cut his ass and think what they have is enough to win it all the next 3-4 years.

The Cavs may be tougher to negotiate with when free agency starts with the role players. No matter what they give LeBron what he wants. They aren't pressed for money or have any issues dealing with the tax but they may not want to bury themselves with contracts that will be difficult to trade next summer (this may be a reach because of the cap jump).

They'll let Tristan, Shumpert, and Delly set the market for themselves. I'd think they would take all 3 back even if they win because of their age, their business connections, how they were acquired, and what they will mean to the city/organization long term.

The only contract I'd be worried about as far as with future trades is JR. JR is always a wild card and based on history he will eventually wear out his welcome if he can't remain dialed in.

Will they play hard ball with Love? They've actively tried to get him for the past 2 years. They love his game and what he does for the glass and on offense. Would that opinion change if they win out against an historically great team that had home court advantage?

Does Blatt quit? Would he have proven his point that he is a great coach? Would he go back to Israel to be back with his family? Blatt is notorious for winning and leaving.

If They Lose......

I'd think the front office would be all in on this roster HEALTHY.

They would know they have the East on lock for the next 3-4 years. They'd know their young core has what it takes to make it to the end and will have to make some tweaks to the rotation depth. They'll get better as a group. They'd be hungrier. They'll go through a full camp together. It would be a revenge tour.

They've found their defense. They'd realize that they need to improve how they play on the offensive end. More ball movement, More body movement.

Kevin Love's role would evolve. They'd have to start finding more ways of getting him involved to make up the gap against the Western Conference.

They'd take every chance to improve this roster while at the same time keeping the core together (James, Love, Irving, Shumpert, Mozgov, Smith, Thompson, Delly, Varejao, Jones + 1st round pick, free agent signing, and Haywood contract return)

They'd maximize the opportunity to win it the next 3-4 years. They'd get the 3rd PG....and they'd get an actual back up for LeBron.

What do ya'll think?

@jaguar paw I think da Cavs are playin wit house money tbh.

Dis is one of da few times I think an NBA team has a kind of a win either way. :manny:

Win: Champions, did it togetha for da first time. Bron's first year returnin home. First time coach. First playoffs for a young team. Major players injuries and still being able to get it done.

Lose: Managed to get to da Finals despite those things listed against em & lost to a superior team dat were da favorites to win anyway. Plus all those things you just listed dat make for a bright future and more opportunities at reachin da Finals again n possibly winning it all.

My end goal dream answer was I obviously hope they win it all without consequence.

Blatt and the coaching staff stays in place. They bring everyone back sans Marion, Haywood, Miller, and Perkins. They add those 3-4 rotational pieces to improve depth.

Bigs minutes all go to Love, Mozgov, and Thompson.

Varejao's minutes are dramatically reduced to keep him healthy. 5th big is a tenured vet or a project big they could send to Canton to develop. I wouldn't be mad at Perkins returning but he clearly thinks he should be playing actual rotation minutes instead of being a vocal leader/enforcer.

Wings are Shumpert, whatever they can get back for Haywood's contract, JR, LeBron, Jones.....Harris and the first round pick join the developing big in Canton.

PGs....Irving, Mo Williams, Delly.

My scenario because I don't think Miller retires:

Mozgov/Varejao/ Robert Upshaw
Love/Thompson/Jones
James/Wilson Chandler/Miller
Shumpert/Smith/Harris
Irving/ Mo Williams/Dellavedova

3 new players in bold.

This team would run shyt.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
@jaguar paw first and foremost what kind of cut did you get, secondly it's better to win the title, there are zero guarantees that you could make it back next year because all it takes is 1 injury and everything is done. Those problems are secondary to winning a title, the only time I advocate losing is when you're a middle of the road team and you can get a lottery pick, that's it. Outside of that, it's always better to win, even if the team gets broken up, you win it now and worry about everything else later.
