I don't know who did this shooting. But the fact this can be a possibility for racist white people to go on a safari, and hunt black people in the hood via drive bys, and have it be chalked off as gang related, is scary.

RIP to them but I don’t understand why people are still loitering on corners or sitting in cars for extended periods of time late at night in Englewood, Roseland, Auburn Gresham, or Austin. At some point you essentially become a sitting duck.

I don't think they were loitering. They were activists and hoped their presence on the Corner would help deter crime. Sometimes the police could have done as well if they cared.

This is how Facebook right-wing propaganda works, unless you're really knowledgable, a daily article about vaccines that have been contaminated, how alkaline water and fruits cure disease, and how the government pushes unhealthy food, can easily be tied to a candidate.

when people talk about "russian" influence in elections, what they really mean is that the way people get information and education has changed.

Facebook groups, internet forums , yt channels have replaced traditional media and formal education. The propaganda that used to come through media and school curricula , now comes in highly concentrated forms through those internet forums and channels. Few dissenting voices exist in those spaces, so being around others who agree with you about something = it must be true.

Lol I honestly don't think it can. When I went up there, it seemed like the adults who liked it stayed in the grimey neighborhoods and projects and thrived.

Autocratic methods which unfortunately is impossible in an individualistic and litigious society like America. I'm not even joking.

You have to separate the kids from the environment permanently and dilute it by taking them out of it completely and putting them in a new one. Mandatory reform schools for problem children. Kids who are simply individuals living in the hell but under the right circumstances would be receptive to a less chaotic environment will then be the only ones left behind with the riff raff removed. There are some folks who are unfortunately at a point that they are so gone its hard to save them.

The problem has gotten way too ingrained in most of these communities because you have kids having kids, for several generations now. A culture of dysfunction is also ingrained. It's not just poverty because poverty alone does not make one black man see another black man life as being as worthless as taking a piss. Being poor doesn't make murder and dehumanizing your brothers any easier with a proper conscious and guidance.

EDIT: Don't know why OP singled out Chicago though. There are many communities around the country, and lets be honest, majority black, that have the same issues that people focus on Southside Chicago about.
