There is probably a deeper issue here.
It is easy to talk about gun violence and gangs and all that.
But I think Chicago is one of the most segregated major cities in the country. And opportunities are limited for a lot of people.
Fix the economics and you fix the city. Everywhere you have a lot of poor people with no hope and no pathway out, violence follows. It isn't a coincidence that wealthy areas have less crime.

The 9, 49, 69 and 79 bus were my best bets and I'd have to walk at least 3 blocks to get home. It was damn near a blessing anytime the 9 would go to 74th from the green line because it wasn't a long walk but them other routes were
especially in summer
