NYC has a clearance rate of around 70%.

NYC like London (another world class city) also saturates it's bad neighborhood with undercover police/on duty police/shot detectors and cameras.

Open fire in NYC and cops will likely be close enough to hear the shots and be right on your ass. So people know they are likely to get caught and don't do it

Seems like in Chicago the police just don't know what the fukk they are doing. Incompetent and corrupt.

Nah NY cops arent any smarter or better..NY just has more cameras and more witnesses .. people will come forward and testify

Chicago nobody even wants to give a brief description of what happened...so if the cops dont get lucky and catch someone with the burner on them they almost have nowhere to start

That plus many of the shooters are minors so they get alot of leeway in terms of questioning,detention,burden of proof..so you have unwilling community,reduced legal consequences plus alot of suspects skip town when they hear a warrant is out

St Louis has like 300,000 people but had almost 200 murders last year.

Baltimore has 600,000 people and had 350 last year. (more than New York city and Los Angeles who have 8,000,000 and 4,000,000 people)

Police are letting this happen. I know for a fact that they never come. I lived literally on the next BLOCK from a huge police station and it takes a hour for one to just ride down the block for a shooting. You can look on facebook and know who is killing who. But they caught the two who shot dwades cousin the next day lol.its cameras ALL over the city, red light and police cameras

Another thing, Its funny how up until recently the murder capitol was always the city with the highest murder rate, not the most overall murders.
Only recently with Chicago getting the most homicides has it changed.

When LA and NYC were getting the most raw homicides they were never refered to as the "murder cap" it was always DC, or St Louis Or New Orleans or Detroit

St Louis had 188 murders last year and is only 60 square miles.

Chicago had 468 and is 230 square miles.

Another thing to note, out of the 188 homicides in St Louis last year, only 54 were closed..

People won't snitch because they do not feel protected enough by the police.
And fear reprisal from criminals who will also act because they also do not fear getting caught by the police.

Effective policing requires much more than just interviewing witnesses. Chicago police just fail on all levels. From community relations, visible and hidden police presence, incarcerating the offenders they keep claiming to know exist, keeping the pressure on known criminals (stopping them, searching them etc.)

OP just posted an article saying police have basically stopped doing their job and now the murders are increasing because people are carrying weapons more since police aren't even searching people anymore.

It blows my mind how people can act like all this shyt is not directly related to the police and their ineffectiveness.
