The foolishness of youth. When I was in A school in Chicago, my homie had this little shyt hole apartment down the street from base, just past the train station. We used to walk after training and go play videos and shoot the shyt till I had to leave. It would be dark out, and he would be like Rich, let me walk you back. I'm looking at him stupid, I got him by an inch in height, and at least 50 lbs. I'm a big Texas bred youngin weeks removed from boot camp ready to kill countries. I earned my stripes in the streets prior to enlisting, things have happened and got taken care of so when he says that I'm questioning my while association with this cat. He tells me, bruh I know you can handle yourself, I'm not saying you can't, but these cats out here is on some other stuff and they don't know you, shyt even if they did know you it might be worse. I didn't listen, I was hard up for conflict which shows how slow I was to let that mentality go. Hind sight being what it is my people were guiding me from above because knowing what I know now I was LUCKY to make that short walk as many times as I did and not have one problem. I absolutely had no idea how savage them streets was, even that close to a military base.........
