I love the coli small brain celebratory posts when Chicago majors comes off as a dumbasses. Like shyt will be rainbow and unicorns. Already gave illegal immigrants hundreds of millions when black folks ain't got a nickel. :mjlol:Chicago may be looking like Gary Indiana pretty damn soon, already got so many people leaving the state:francis:

Very Interested to see what happens with these city stores and wish it a success.

Interesting. IMO it would work if they use city owned properties and profits go into community development.

Why is the guy in the glasses so negative ?
This is NOT a big project, its a simple grocery store for crying out loud. Mom and Pop grocery stores pop up all the time

I understand lowering crime is important but that's a long term goal that will take time.
But people need reasonable access to grocery stores now.

It would be cheaper to lease out a pre-existing building, that was previously used as a supermarket given commercial real estate values have tanked. Supermarkets naturally run on low profit margins, so the city isn't looking to turn a profit, just break even.

With the right vision, leadership, and implementation, a city could compete with/out-compete private businesses.

The first thing the city would have to do is leverage the thing that no private business could ever do.

Put an actual squad of cops and a holding cell in that mug.

"Shrinkage" would shrink right up.

Coordinating with food stamps, food banks, along with job training in food service (every grocery store has a deli) - and they could really do something.

And they could carry better products, if they really want to address the "food desert" thing.

They carry Jewish Food at my local hood grocery store. I don't know who buys it, but they finally put it on clearance.

Nah. They just have to cater to the communities they serve. Large Chain grocers are one-size fits all. The ideal supermarket in Mexican Village is very different than the ideal supermarket in Naperville. My guess is the areas that are in desperate need of a grocery store are more demographically alike than different. Tailor the product selection for those communities and they can run an efficient store. Now if all the workers are getting city pensions, then all bets are off.
you literally, dont know what you're talking about.
