I definitely prefer Chicago to D.C. There's a lot more to do and D.C. can be stifling at times.

Try downtown, Gold Coast, Southport, East Lakeview, Ravenswood, Andersonville, Lincoln Park, or Roscoe Village. Great areas with great walk scores and low crime.

Those are the areas I was looking into. Lincoln Park, Lakeview and if I went to the South Side...Hyde Park.

I'm spoiled because I spent 5 years in Washington D.C. And crime is essentially non-existent as it's too expensive for people in that element to live there. In D.C., most of the crime has been pushed out to SE DC and PG county. You can basically walk through 60% of the city at 1am (i have) and not feel like you're in danger.

I do think Chicago offers more as a city than D.C. does but, I have serious reservations about the crime. I guess I would have to stay on the North Side. I want to be able to make a quick run to the CVS at night without having to worry about stray bullets.

I guess I gotta visit and get a feel for the place.

Its sad because the Chocolate City won't be so chocolate anymore but, it almost means crime will be basically gone. I rather hang around the professional Black crowd anyway so I'm not that bothered.

Rahm does not know how to keep streets and highway or any city landscapes uo to par like Daley did..so sooner or later the old Chicago issues are going to start reappearing again.
The influx of disease from rat infestation like the eighties.
already started and affecting dogs like back when I was a kid.
Plus the road infrastructure and maintenance was crumbling when I left too..so, sooner or later under this current regime who does not know how to cover up their ineptitude or cut corners scope is going to start being exposed systematically over time.
Where Chicago goes back to old concrete and rusted out iron girders..coupled with potholes and poor landscaping.


So, sooner or later the city is gonna look like dc that emannuel came from cause he does not know what he is doing.

Breh 1-2 a day in a city of almost 3,000,000 people is not Narco numbers. That is like the same murder rate you see in the safest South and Central American cities without Cartels.

You say 1-2 a day isn't bad because you aren't that 1-2. Most of these big cities are just padding their numbers with a huge population. Even so if someone asked you to move somewhere that you had a 1in 30 chance a day of getting killed I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be jumping at it. We haven't even discussed the non lethal violence either.

I grew up in 80's-90's warzone Brooklyn where it 30-40 guys Rob a whole subway car and dreads and younger cats fought for blocks everyday and now none of that even happens like that anymore so it can be done. They have to make a serious push and draw the line somewhere. But big cities putting up occupied Iraq war numbers needs to be a thing of the past.

i think they need to implement some kinda stop and frisk where they can only charge you with an illegal weapon no drug and weed bullshyt should be permissible. unmarked guns? yeah

i hate the police. but these arent my communities, and i realize that policing is a hard job, especially if you expect them to make results. so if no one wants cops to stop and frisk, i have to question what exactly they want them to do because these pigs are just people at the end of the day. they dont have some kinda answer

They turn into crackheads looking for anything that resembles a rock and they get frisk happy. They need police presence so close that people don't want to take the risk to do stuff and honestly if a cop ends up clapping some Chief Keef looking dude waving an assault rifle no one should be mad. well there were even more murders in New York when stop and frisk was in effect

And the vast majority of the frisks turned up either nothing or just drugs
