i have plenty of problems with stop and frisk the question is just, what do people expect police to do if not that. if i was a cop tasked with stopping gun violence, i would want to stop and frisk without finding drugs as a permissible "find"

The lowest amount of murders NYC ever had was in 2014, when de Blasio drastically cut back stop and frisk. And this year is on track for even less murders.

And I know you said that, but it's not realistic, cops will confiscate illegal substances mo matter what, and most likely bring charges.

I do think there should be heavy police presence in high crime neighborhoods, but ultimately the change will have to come from within the communities. That being said, in the case of New York at least, 300 murders a year in a city of 8.5 million people is not bad at all, and honestly I'm not sure how much lower it can realistically get.

Mostly retaliation and petty beefs. Also as someone said earlier the jail terms for possession of firearms don't deter people from carrying at all times. On the other hand think about having to make the decision to risk going to jail for possession vs the risk of getting caught by an enemy without your weapon.
