Your argument is that people should boycott Chick-Fil-A because they "fund" anti Gay Marriage groups with "our money." Your argument was crushed because "our money" funds the outright killing of homosexuals and women in other countries. Why can't we expand the argument to show that you're just a typical armchair activist?

no, the argument was based on not only those elements but also the lack of belief in religious institutions, and belief in God within the forum, and more importantly, within this country. you really believe people will stop using oil based products before they decide to stop eating at chick-fil-a? if they don't care about gay rights at home, they wouldn't care about gays in another country that are being put to death for that, nor would they vocalize their opinion to stop funding those regimes that promote that.

and it's pretty easy to call someone an armchair activist, but i'd rather be just that (if that's what you believe i am) than apathetic about subjects. apathy doesn't even lead anywhere towards activism...

I'm waiting on a link where the owner of CFA clearly stated he's against gays getting married.

because a thread was made on the issue. i'm not an economist so i won't pretend i know anything about the subject...

I ain't getting on you specifically, I just find it funny how this blew up when Chick-Fil-A hasn't tried to hide it's anti-gay marriage views in the past

I wish there was one in Canada do I could support them.

So folks can support Starbucks, home depot etc that Throw their support behind homosexuals but Christians can't support companies that support their stance?

no, if that's how you feel then that how you feel. i'm targeting those who don't support religion, bash it, say God doesn't exist, but then are apathetic on this issue. you're clearly not in this category...

the country was founded on slavery too. and racism towards multiple groups (not just blacks). should we re-embrace those ideals too?

and your comment about sweatshops is true. i'm not denying that. but i'm talking about a specific thing here and the apathy shown towards it. don't deflect the issue and try to expand the argument. it's not relevant to this discussion on chick-fil-a. like i said, i find it ridiculous how people can be on this forum. one minute they don't like organized religions and don't believe in God because it was used to enslave blacks, yet they'll give their money to an organization that believes in God (which i don't have a problem with by far) that's using that same money to give to others to promote principles in the bible to hold another group back from obtain political acceptance and government recognition in the form of marriage...

if you can't even get over this obvious hurtle, i find it hard to believe you'll tackle the issues of sweatshops, nor the issues of human rights...

Try and spot the contradiction :leostare:

Try and spot the contradiction :leostare:

please tell me where i contradict myself? his original comment brought up how the country was founded on religious beliefs and i brought up other beliefs held during the country's origin not as a complete rebuttal but to demonstrate how ideals do change. i don't contradict myself at all during these comments because my focus is strictly on how some people can refute God and religion, claim it to be an instrument of control and enslavement yet still feel apathetic towards this issue and have no stance other than "i want some chicken from chick-fil-a" which is an institution that has public vocalized their stance on same sex marriage, religious ideals, and has been giving money to anti-gay groups, yet they see no problem with that...
