Most players who restructure make the same amount of money and in many cases they get more of it upfront. Not sure what the details of his restructure was but he's only got 2 years left on his deal anyways so he's probably looking for an extension.Hopefully more NFL brehs do this “when I signed... I’m signed.”

They actually see that money earlier with a restructure (the same money).
This is true for a lot of okay players but not true for star players.
Star players often get the guaranteed money squared away in a restructure and then when the only money left is unguaranteed they get cut. And depending on what that player's production was they get killed in further contract negotiations.

That's essentially his point. It's all about keeping leverage when you can as long as you can. And it'll all more than likely end up with him still on the roster and paid with an extension when it's said and done. I don't think it's a comfort thing as much as it's ensuring the bag
