Anything can be abused. I see both sides of this though. I paid CP for a few years before me and the BM got married because the govment was tripping about providing insurance or something (can't really remember but basically it was 'Verbal you pay CP or we're cutting the aid off'). Luckily my BM wasn't one of these trash chicks so even though we weren't together she wasn't trying to get me for my paper or anything. She even came to court with me and told the judge that I was buying them groceries every week, paying for daycare, clothes, etc so they made me pay the minimum which was like $50 a week so she'd just use that for the same stuff I was giving her cash for anyway.

On the flip side the BM moved back in with her parents after we got engaged to save money and I had lil man on my own for about 9 months. It was a whole new world. I understand when people say there's no pricetag. It’s a huge difference doing for your kid by yourself every day and night (and I had it easy because the BM was at the crib most every day). I'm not mad at a woman taking that CP money and putting it into car repairs so she can get the kid to and from school/daycare/practice, or into paying bills. Life is a lot more flexible and affordable when you don't have a kid living with you

I notice that this moral obligation not to have fun at the child's expense is always laid at the feet of the mother. The mother is told to go home and raise her kids by a bunch of men who are out having fun who got kids themselves.

On the one hand fatherhood is so important, it shouldn't be marginalised, and every child needs their dad but how often are men guilted into restricting their leisure activities to raise kids like mothers are?

I agree with you. I just think that their criticism is not completely unwarranted. Some women are horrible mothers and exploit the system. However, I do think that people exaggerate the extent on which it is done. If you are not dealing with rich men scamming the system for child support is more hassle than it is worth...it is only rewarding gig for a small segment of the population.

Thing is you got with a woman that you can see a future with. You may not have married her before you had a child but you guys were a unit way before marriage came along. Dudes out here sexing/impretgnating women for fun and get caught up with a lifetime of responsibilities because they refuse to use discernment because they have an itch to rub one out. This applies to women as well. People doing permanent things for temporary situations.

I see it all the time: "That bytch! My money!" That bytch! My money!" "That bytch! My money!"

However, when you ask these dudes "Well, did you use a condom?" or anything else related to sexual responsibly, they go into discussion of how they were tempted, trapped and that they had to get their nut off because you know, their dikks control them.

I never hear or see this bullshyt from dudes that got some discrepancy, selectiveness, and common sense when it comes to sex and women.

The problem is needs cannot be calculated in a mathematical equation.

You're right. But the current calculation is crap in a lot of states. But honestly if BOTH parents were more honest about the reality of the cost to raise a child, it would go a long way. But you got one side fudging numbers to pay less and another side fudging numbers to get more. And the judicial system sees child support cases as just a chore to deal with. When that's how it works, it's unlikely the child support system will ever be ideal.

1) If your argument is that you leech off your parents and don't have as many bills to pay, then congratulations! You just made a great argument for why you should have a lower child support award in the first place!

2) If your argument is that child support doesn't cover your utilities, then it sounds like you should have asked for more alimony. Alimony is meant for your personal economic support. Child support is not.
