I doubt they are actually recreating the whole game. That'd be a major pain in the ass. This looks like just a tech demo

Yeah, people have been recreating Nintendo games in Unreal Engine, but they are just demos. Also, Nintendo doesn't usually stop fan games unless the creators are trying to make money from it.
