How was your experience there?

In the rural and less foreigner frequented parts of Mainland, the locals were like whenever they saw me:

I took a lot of pictures with people being black and basically taller than everyone. a lot of people thought I was an athlete

Shanghai was more cosmopolitan but I still got a lot of wanted (and unwanted attention).

Nah. But China is clearly about to overtake the US as the most powerful nation in the near future. They’re on a whole ‘nother playing field right now.

All this numbers talk...i once read that "numbers are the religion of white people" ...i cant recall the source, but it is in fact a profound statement. They play so many games with numbers...for instance; like everyone is well or at least generally aware of homicide statistics for the nearest major city like its a sports figure or some shyt....but suicide numbers...(not so )mysteriously obscure and damn sure not publicized.

How many jobs (means of living, to be clear) are out there where you get accessed in a inhumane manner...where your performance review is limited to a set of numbers?!

Thats jus one angle i can go in on this thread, but ill leave it at that.

But as ive said in other instances, theres been a conspicuous uptick in anti chinese media reportings (anti Chinese empire, in particular)...wouldnt be surprised if some seemingly organic anti Chinese government demonstrations pop up out here somewhere down the line

Oh yea few keywords:
"Neural data is sent in real time to the teachers computer". What they don't say in that video is that teacher's computer is also sending data to various huge corporations where some of them might be interested in hiring these kids for future slavery works.

"Teachers say these devices forced kids to become more disciplined". Sure if you teach your kid like a dog following every footstep maybe you'll raise yourself a nice "uber soldat"

I know some of these reports are propaganda...and I've never been to China, but the mere fact that this technology exists is disturbing.

People aren't robots and that's the path that we're heading, not only is it China but the world may end up going down the path of making people by and large monolithic drones.

• No free thought,
• No creative thought
• No empathy for others
• No dissenting opinions

Ultimately I think this will lead to a regression in the overall human condition. And I've said it before, but it will lead to one person holding an immeasurable amount of power.

They need to slow down the pace of technology so society can catch up because we're playing with fire.

Black Mirror is being played out in real time.
There's a form of this A.I. monitored system occurring in schools over here already, but it's more subtle; they rarely have paper- based tests in my daughter's school; having an IPad is a required school supply and the teachers send assignments via apps that score time, performance through data based results.

Everything negative I hear about China doesn’t come from stereotypes...but from their own people.

Some of my Chinese and Taiwanese friends can’t STAND China. They say their government hates its own people and sees them as nothing more than vermin. They say people think they are docile but really, if u speak up, u get snuffed out.

They also say that Chinese officials revel in boasting about population size but will regularly cull their numbers and would use the poor as nothing more than slaves and organ donors when unchecked. One dude was like if human bodies were batteries China would kill over half of their people to power one toy of their elite, and wouldn’t blink an eye. They also expressed suspicion about what they call Chinese neo-colonization in Africa, Tibet and other countries. I’ve never been to China and won’t care if I never do.
