We'll be done before China will. They've been on track for the no. 1 spot for some time. All that low cost Made In China stuff we have here? Folks blame manufacturers moving jobs but if we focused on keeping a living wage in this country they never would have gained a foothold.

We have states where an abortion bill passes at the snap of a finger but the minimum wage is less than 9 an hour. And it's a damn fight to have it raised. Meanwhile folks can charge whatever they want for rent and 9 an hour isn't enough to secure a mortgage. Greedy shyt like that is why I laugh at anyone trying to blame illegals or china for any of our woes. Country decided to let rampant greed rule the day. What other outcome could there have been?

The economy is based on the service industry. Uber, uber eats, Amazon prime, restaurants, dog walkers, home care nursing, etc.

Factory workers arent the backbone of the economy anymore and it's not going to go back to that. Nobody wants to be on their feet for 10 hours doing repetitive tasks and risking injury. It is more expensive to find and hire and provide benefits for an American worker who will put these goods together. It's cheaper to have foreign labour do that and some of those savings are passed on to us. Most of the shyt you see in dollar stores and Walmart are made in China.

This could lose him the election because a lot of his most passionate supporters either work or aspire to work in manufacturing.

If a country lacks a manufacturing, skilled trade, and agricultural base... their economy will eventually crumble. So I guess America wants to crumble

But If tariffs cause the prices of Chinese goods to go up, who's to say American companies wont try to maximize their profits by matching the price of the Chinese goods? Because they eventually will, and then they'll run one of their "buy American made" campaigns that they do every few years.
