Have you read about the gentrification that has been taking place in formerly fukkED up neighborhoods in the country? Areas that five years ago where poorly served, high crime,dirty, lawless areas look completely different now....as professionals are opting to move back to the centers of major cities.


I'm Haitian, lot of the natural resources of Haiti are gone, but there are still untapped resources there. China is investing there to extract those resources and to open up new markets for the goods that they produce.

Just like the countries in Africa that have been run into the ground by it's leaders, Haiti is a prime target for China.

Sometimes others can see value in things that you don't. Certain that Chinese have identified and located the natural resources that are still in Haiti and going to build infrastructure to extract them. Also, as the article pointed out...being in Haiti opens up new markets for Chinese goods to be sold directly.

"1804" sounds great......defeating the people who enslaved you is great, but to be in the condition that Haiti is in over 200 years after independence is SHAMEFUL.

Forward thinking Haitian Americans and others in the diaspora can take advantage of what's happening here and make some money.

Thats how the world works retards. No successful nation operates in a vacuum. Those nations that tried to help in the decline of Haiti[i.e USA, France, Canada] done so because it was of their interest. This is not the same for China. China may exploit Haiti[they will try to], but thats only if the Haitian government ALLOWS them.

Legit question, I guess. My take is that Haitian govt. has consistently failed her people for over 60 years. Parts of the country are still damaged from earthquake from 2010!!!!!
The infrastructure improvements proposed in the deal would otherwise NOT happen if the deal doesn't go through. Straight up.
