Mega,

I'm keeping it 100 and ANYBODY from tri state NY area please cosign.

Years ago, when I worked in the city...I'd offer to meet up with relatives who were going to Haitian embassy to get a passport for travel. THE HORROR stories.... and this is the consulate office in NEW YORK....this is the face of Haiti to the USA. Tomfoolery, run amok. led astray all types of wild shyt to do something simple as getting a goddamned passport!!!!

The consulate has moved and they've streamlined the process but it was embarrassing before how incompetent and corrupt the workers there were.

And again.....this isn't a bakery, a cab stand, but the Haitian Consulate office in NYC.

Preach!

The one in Miami knew me. The guy behind the glass door told me to take a seat and we waited for 2 hours. They never called 1 person. Not 1 person. So I left. I know they closed at 4 PM. I waited for him in the lot and I told him, " I know u, I know ur family. I know u go to school at FIU. All I need is a passport. Make it happen"

Next day, I showed up and asked for him. I had my passport in 4 days. Dead ass. An older lady was telling me stories about how u gotta grease their hands to even look at your file.

Me and 4 homes got the job done. Without that, I wouldn't be able to travel.

Good bye Coli(2014-2020)
That may be the "on paper" procedure . What is the real procedure, total costs involved(fees), and general timeframe from A to Z?

I have family who moved to Canada as adults....lived /worked/raised family there and moved back to Haiti....and they all complain about how long it takes things to get down there.

Haiti does not have a business friendly or investment friendly environment.
Its like that in almost all developing countries.

Continental U.S.
So it sounds like this could be a win win situation if the deal done right. Haitian brehs. Do you have faith in the current leadership to be able to construct a deal that will benefit the people of Haiti(jobs, better infrastructure, etc) or will they just accept anything and line their pockets?
They will accept anything and line their pockets. Only good thing we prolly get is the infrastructure and hopefully help, with reforestation :francis:

Celebrate in the here and now but 20-30 years from now when Africa and the African diaspora is indebted to China it will be no laughing matter. Sadly Haiti doesnt have much of a choice.

Any updates on this? Plans were suppose to begin at the end of September.
Seem like the criminal organizations in Haiti try to "act right" aka start talking about haitian enterpreneurship.

The Criminal organization = Digicel, IDB, CFI, BID......

On China :

The Chinese been buying land for awhile now and had Haiti project (for the airport back in 2013) but was shut down by the US & friends.

U.S also shut down Hugo Chavez helping Haiti in the past.

Haitian- China relation:

Work Begins Soon to Bring Haiti into 'Silk Road' After China Invests US$30 billion to Develop Infrastructure

"Silk Road" work is expected to begin December on projects for clean water, sanitation, public bathrooms, electricity, communications, and more to Port-au-Prince.

The People's Republic of China is preparing to carry through with plans to invest a massive US$30 billion in developing Haiti's infrastructure, including power plants, sanitation works, water systems, railways, affordable housing, and marketplaces, in an agreement that is expected to have a major social, economic, and developmental impact.

This week, workers have started to be contacted for the approximately 20,000 jobs needed to carry out the ambitious initiative, Haitian press has reported.

Commitment to the program was first announced by the Haitian Press Agency in the beginning of August, following an eight-day visit of a Chinese delegation to Haiti. The initial idea was concieved at the Belt and Road initiative summit in Beijing, where infrastructure projects were proposed to over 100 countries around the world.

Last week, the Municipality of Port-au-Prince formally accepted the project's initial phase, which will begin with an investment of US4.711 billion targeting the country's capital, where Chinese investment will partner with Haitian companies to develop clean water and drainage systems, road infrastructure, sanitation projects, communications infrastructure, and a restoration of Port-au-Prince's old city.

“This accord may finally break the grip that the eternal exploiters of Haiti had for decades on the poor people of Haiti while they greatly benefited from favors and monopolies from corrupt governments,” said Bernard Sansaricq, the former Senate President of Haiti, to Huffington Post

Some of the most ambitious projects include a sewage plant which can treat 180,000 cubic meters per day, and a water purification plant that can handle 225,000 cubic meters per day.

The city will look to tackle urban pollution and sanitation by installing 450 public toilets, and implementing a public garbage collection system and waste landfills.

In a city that has frequent blackouts, the project will install a 2000 megawatt gas-fired power station.

Communications systems will receive an upgrade, with the aim of providing reliable cell service across the municipality, and a central internet center which is able to run emergency dispatch.

While the initial investment of nearly US$5 billion is only tackling the Port-au-Prince region, it is expected that over the course of the rest of the nearly US$30 billion promised the rest of Haiti will be covered as well.
