Whether or not Bron is Muhammad Ali has nothing to do with China. He's being roasted now in the worst way. "No comment", just like he's doing now, puts the attention back to morey to "put out his own fire" and he could've still been parading as a modern day Muhammad Ali.
That's Deng Xiopeng. When they took that picture Deng had already orchestrated the Anti-Rightest Campaign which persecuted some 550,000 intellectuals for non-conformity to Party positions, in many cases sentencing them to hard labor, harassing them into suicide, or even executing them. The very year he took that picture he had just started the One Child Policy, which included forced sterilizations and forced abortions. Four years later in 1983, Deng instituted the "strike hard" anti-crime campaign, which had a goal of 6,000 executions and managed to surpass all expectations with 24,000 executions in the first year alone.
Two years after that, Ali was back to promote boxing in China again:
Soon after that, Deng came through and crushed the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989, killing thousands in the closest China had ever come to getting democracy.
Ali went ahead and was Deng's official guest in China for a 3rd time in 1993.
As far as I can tell, Ali never said a negative word about Deng or the Chinese government. The boxing program he helped to build there resulted in China's participation in boxing in the 1992 Olympics, its first medal in 2004, and multiple golds by 2008.
That was before the "cancel" culture, where making one controversial step could cause people to magically dismiss everything else you'd done in life. Ali didn't just promote his own ventures in China, he met with and supported the official national programs of the Chinese government itself and did photo-ops with a brutal dictator. Chinese government media would use Ali's appearances in mass propaganda to highlight his refusal to be drafted and the Civil Rights Struggle in the United States, portraying America as an inferior system full of war and racial conflict as typical party propaganda does.
Using this situation to shyt on LeBron's social work is some straight bullshyt. 90% of the media figures I've seen shytting on Bron would have shyt on Ali too for "not supporting America" or "shut up and fight" or some bulshyt like that. Same goes for Coli posters - damn near EVERY one of y'all hating on Bron doesn't have shyt to say on the social justice issues we talk about on here but will bend over backwards to try to bring a Black man down.
