CB came out a hood 4 or 5 years before we even heard of drake
Drake let people know from jump when he does features He’ll do the hood shyt but his projects are to experiment on. People don’t hold Drake to creative limitations and it works. Chris kinda did this to himself. Plus becoming a Hollywood gang member didn’t help.

His last album has slaps but so much useless repetitive filler that he’s done before.

The modern youth are numb, emotionally speaking and thus what we class as vulgar ignorance is just at their baseline. Same way it was back in 93 when the game went hardcore and we all dug it whilst old heads shook their heads in disgust at the new fangled vulgar ignorance.

It would be very interesting to see what would happen if CB dropped something like this:

As his core fanbase wouldn't be able to get jiggy with it and those who would enjoy it wouldn't be checking for it anyway plus radio isn't spinning him so he needs an undeniable smash across the demographs to force them to listen. He's in a bit of strange space, artistically speaking, as I'd say he's capable of a lot more but isn't showing true growth. Same with the Weekn'd but you can tell he actually wants to switch the style up, even if it means losing fans, but then its offset by living expenses, stature, only being as good as your last hit and industry politics.

I had a great idea about how Weekn'd could make that shift in a way that pleases everyone:

I really should get into the industry again.

I would have agreed until tory lanez made alone at prom. Proved that wrong.

Does it?

To my ears that album was Torys best drop and should've smashed the charts when it had the weakest performance of any of his releases so it validates my perspective as it was a smooth joint that didn't get the spins it deserved as it didn't resonate with his fanbase. On the flip those that dont usually listen to Lanez but do enjoy synthpop infused R&B gave it mad spins and yet it still bricked hence:

"his core fanbase wouldn't be able to get jiggy with it and those who would enjoy it wouldn't be checking for it anyway plus radio isn't spinning him so he needs an undeniable smash across the demographs to force them to listen"

Applies perfectly in this case as well. This is why movies are retreads these days as you only get one bite of the apple. One chance at a smash or flopping. The youth want more of what they've heard that sounds like everyone else due to the numbness I mentioned.
