Chris really should be going against someone that actually grew up career wise along with him. Too bad he don’t have much competition. Should be Chris vs Trey but people think he’d kill Trey I guess
People really should stick with peer groups, there is no percect 1:1 matchups at this level. Kellz in a verzuz would have to be limited to his work as an artist only, not writing/producing, to have a good match, and the best match from him as an artist is actually Mary J Blige, they were the king and queen of r&b from 92-02

ginuwine and usher is the next best match if we keeping it black, otherwise JT for usher

chris and trey is the best matchup for the dudes who established themselves in 04-07, they the only two to matter for more than a decade and consistently put singles on the radio…

neyo and dream were around but they were slightly older and have a whole producing/writing bag that separates them further from Chris/Trey. And yes, Chris has written for others but hes not seeing what dream and neyo accomplished

Their fan bases are the same. Women :heh:
You being dishonest putting chris and Bruno in the same bag. If Chris stayed on his trajectory pre-rihanna he and Bruno might be on the same level but Bruno a whole pop artist, that’s where he started and then went into the old school r&b bag once established, but makes clean music that’s accessbile to a whole larger audience. Chris went r&b thug/profanity/part time rapper and caters to a very urban audience. My old ass parents fukk with Bruno, they’d be hard pressed to pick Chris out of a two person line up let alone know his music. Bruno on another level popularity wise and makes different music

bruno vs weekend works as they both cater to the same crowd,, but Chris and bruno do not, there is some overlap, but their core target audience is very different

I’m not doubting they make slightly different music. But just like you said Chris became a R&B thug/profanity/part time rapper then that would make him and Usher a bad matchup too then becuz most of Ushers catalog is clean as a whistle. Actually now that I think about it Usher and Bruno would be the best matchup out the three

So all women are the same?
No but most women don’t only listen to one type of artist either. There’s prolly mad overlap one their fan bases. Just becuz you listen to one doesn’t mean you don’t listen to the other. Just look at KRS One and BDK. Completely different MCs but the matchup worked becuz they are peers

I don’t like the usher vs Chris matchup for several reasons. And usher and Bruno would be trash too, they literally have no ties to one another. Bruno was still full on pop music in the years that overlapped usher on the downside of his career.

Like I said a couple posts back, these are better kept within the same generation. That leaves Ginuwine or JT for usher

2010 was his last significant album before falling off. I'm sorry, I love Breezy but he ain't fukking with Usher; neither does he have a classic album that can stand against 8701 or Confessions. Chris has great singles, but like Beyonce, he's never proven he can put together a cohesive, legendary album of work. In my opinion, Fame and his rookie debut are his two best albums. His other shyt just has a decent song here and there.

These are the facts :yeshrug:

I know they don't listen to one type of artist. But the types tuning in to a Verzuz featuring Chris Brown likely are on his side of the tracks and not Bruno's. The overlap won't be as heavy as you think.

KRS and BDK appealed to the same core audience.

Why the artists gotta have ties tho? There’s plenty of these matchups that the artists had no ties to each other. Plus Ushers music spanned multiple generations so why put him in a box?

I think it’s been established already that there’s not one type of audience who is tuning into a Versuz. That shyt only matters when you have matchups like Omarion and Mario whose peaks were those Scream Tour days. If you have real superstars and legends involved you can throw all that shyt out the window

I guarantee the people who put these together would fall all over themselves if Chris Brown and Bruno Mars decided to do a Versuz becuz they know it’ll have one of the highest number of viewers
