Hmmm, this is an interesting case-study. I think Ben is probably more famous after the rape stuff than he was before it, but he clearly was more famous than Winston at the time each story broke.
Cosby is also way more famous than Big Ben ever was or will be and Cos was protected by the media for years.
With that said the way ESPN covered the Rothlisberger situation is suspect. I assume race played some part, it pretty much always does. I'm sure the lack of criminal charges also played a role.
