Responses remind me of the kind of stuff my white friends say (either outright or in a subtle fashion) anytime a race issue arises. They say or hint at stuff that will frankly shock you. It's because they constantly want to be the victim... the whole feel sorry for us bit. When black people talk about how we have overcome obstacles throughout our history in America they automatic jump up and say we have struggled too. They say our ancestors came here to escape religious persecution, but what they fail to realize is their ancestors came here on their own free will and our ancestors were plucked from their homes and forcibly made to work the land. Their daughters, mothers, auntie, and cousins weren't raped and ogled at by white men. Don't try to make our situations similar... because they are not.

I'm not discounting the atrocities that happened during the Holocaust, 9/11, The Oklahoma City bombing, etc... It's just disheartening when white people tell you to leave history in the past, but constantly bring these things up so they won't be forgotten. They want us to forget all of the killings, lynching, and mistreatment of our race that has been going on for centuries and not just a moment in time like they had.

You have to let them know there's a difference between them being and individual and what white supremacy is because all races including blacks are indoctrinated under it. Me and my one white friend got into a heated debate about affirmative action the other day and he was saying how they should get rid of it because its 2016 and both black and white should have equal oppurtunities in the work force.
