They shouldn't care because they represent the very power structure that killed their Savior during his day. Replace Romans with American whites and Jesus with Black people and the scenario doesn't seem different. Just as the Romans crucified Christ for being a revolutionary during his day, is the same way they lynched blacks and hung em from trees during reconstruction and Jim Crow.
