People who are using these ISIS nutcases as a reason to bash all Muslims are forgetting one fact: all the Christians are fleeing to where?....that's right to MUSLIM Kurdistan.

A disgusting and extreme group uprooted those people from their homes....but they are also being welcomed by millions of Muslims in Kurdistan. This is the other side of the equation.

Some of the comments in here are very troubling. A few of you are so keen on defending the religious source that you're overlooking that people might be put to death for not paying a tax that only exists in a religion they do not follow. That seems archaic and cruel, to worry more about religious interpretation than human lives.

I'm in favor of taxes, and I know that entails have repercussions in not paying them, but death? Modern taxation should entail some sort of representation in the state, a means to appeal the tax or repercussions from not paying tax, benefits of the state from taxing, and surely not death for refusing to pay.

Makes me see some your Israel-Palestine comments in a whole new light.

There is a difference between Christianity and Roman Catholicism. Many things that the Catholic Church has done is wrongly being put at the feet of Christianity.

You have no idea what you're talking about, especially things involving US History.

every religion has questionable past.

Only difference here is Muslims have not learned from it.
In 2014 no one is paying a special tax because they are not a christian

Last time I checked the RCC killed over 60 million christians. Even killed the guy who created the basis for the King James Bible. The US was founded on christianity. Check out the Declaration of Independence. I'm sure I know more than you think I know.

1) Roman Catholicism is Christianity.

2) The US was founded by Christians and deists, but as a secular society. See the 1st Amendment. The Age of Enlightenment made great advances towards realizing the need for secular governments.

3) The Declaration of Independence makes not mention of Jesus, only a creator. Lots of religions believe in the concept of a creator.

4) A lot of justification for slavery, harming/killing/displacing the natives, and mistreatment of minorities were made credible (at the time) because of the Bible. It provided justification in the eyes of those doing it.

5) The US for a long time had a very small minority US Catholic population. This day, it's roughly 50% protestant and 22% Catholic.

So no, it does not appear that you know much about this friend.
